Hi I have been worried about hiv for quite a while now.

Im 23 and a female I have had sex not gonna lie before I met my partner and was a little promiscuous I have been with my partner 2 years and have had skin issues scabies at first I used the cream for scabies , and it cleared up but since then I have had folliculitis at least that’s what I think it looks like.. and have my partner gets on his face what looks like sebhorric dermatitis it’s completely the same rash , it says on Google only 5 percent of people who do not have hiv get it but 95% of people with hiv do get it .. so does that mean my partner and I have hiv .. I am going to take a test I just don’t have the money to order a self test kit at the min but I will do in a few weeks and I’m just worried if I leave it any longer somethin bad could happen

Hi Psantos , Scabies as you know is caused by a mite living in the skin . This causes intense itching . It is likely your scratching has caused a skin infection that has resulted in the folliculitis . Folliculitis is not a symptom of HIV , although people with lowered immune response may get it . The main cause of folliculitis is bacterial or fungal infection , but obesity and very curly hair can also be a cause !

To me the fact that you are having these skin problems suggests there are problems in your life style , and these will need addressing for you to have a healthy life .
