Hi , Your results are interesting and need someone with proper medical knowledge to fully understand them . I have googled the CD4-CD8 ratio which in a healthy person should be roughly 1.5 CD4 cells to every CD8 , therefor it is your CD8 count that appears low . Why this should be I have no idea , but it is CD4 cells that are the bench mark for measuring the state of HIV infection because it is the CD4 cells that are destroyed by the HIV virus , not CD8 . This means that as HIV infection advances the CD4- CD8 ratio alters to that where CD8 outnumber CD4 . As in your case it appears CD8 count is low it seems unlikely that any health issues you are experiencing are being caused by HIV .

thanks for your reply Griffon .. after 3 months of this tests i have been diagnosed with autoimmune pernicious anemia(could have been unidentified for years as was informed by many members in pernicious anemia society) .. i dont know if it effects CD8 cells..

At least you now have a diagnosis , although I have a feeling that your condition is going to be a difficult one to treat . Hope you manage a good recovery .

i am confused.. iam not sure why you are saying that it will be difficult to treat me.. do u mean i am already immune deficient like in AIDS.? i am taking b12 shots.. do u think there is any other reason for decreased CD8 cells..? i am asking because there might be others in this group who are similar to me.. Doctors are not willing to see me and i am not able to ask them anything about this values..

I am not a doctor , I only say it may be difficult to treat your anaemia because I know autoimmune diseases are difficult to treat . Your condition may have been genetically inherited , which means that it is part of you .

ah ok.. unfortunately my nerves are damaged.. but there was still no anemia when i was diagnosed. many people are suffering from this auto immmune diseases..thanks for your time to respond much appreciated

It is possible that your autoimmune anaemia has been making you ill for some time but is only just now showing up on tests .

This is mainly a CD4 count result - which is 640 (40%) and normal. I am glad there has been a cause found for your ill health so it can be treated.
