I am a female and had unprotected sex with someone who’s hiv status was unknown. I took a 4th gen test around 5 weeks and the results came back negative. I am going back for a second confirmation test in a month per my doctors recommendation just to be sure. However, in the meantime I have been having recurring symptoms, and feel as though my immune system has weakened (I hardly ever got sick previous to this). This is the third time since my potential exposure in January that I have gotten a horrible feeling sore throat. Symptoms are very comparable to strep throat, tonsillitis, etc. I know I have anxiety relating to why I keep getting sick, but I am searching for an explanation. This never happens to me, and the symptoms are so bad I can hardly swallow. Could recurring illness be a sign of hiv due to a weakened immune system? Is the negative 4th gen test at 5 weeks a reason to have some peace of mind?
Thanks for the help!

Hi , You keep asking the same question over and over , and the answers you get are not going to change no matter how many times you repeat the question . HIV takes years to weaken the immune system so there is no way that yours will have been affected after 35 days ! You need to ask yourself why you are fixated on HIV when it is a difficult virus to catch and there are hundreds of other illnesses that are a great deal more common ? Is it latent feelings of guilt over the sex act that is making you think like this , possibly ?
I would never be ashamed or feel guilty because of a sexual act? I’ve asked one other question and it was related to a rash that appeared 14 days after potential exposure. I am asking questions to see if there is anyone else that has experienced something similar, and because I am repeatedly so ill that it is concerning. These are not symptoms I have made up in my head; these are real, painful, scary symptoms that I have - I am not a hypochondriac.
Sorry if I am abrupt , but if you scroll back through the questions asked on this forum you will see the same question as yours , from lots of different people , repeated over and over . You will also see the answers are the same every time ! This problem of not believing that a negative test is correct is a mental illness , not a physical one .
Maryharry , I suggest you go some place else with your scam medicines . Hopefully you will choke on the bunch of weeds that you are trying to fool people are a cure for their illness 🌱😱
So you don't say what country you are in , to then determine what is the risk that person could be HIV positive. avert.org/professionals/hiv... people often vastly over estimate the risk. A 4th generation test @ 35 days should pick up the vast majority of infections. Remember to test for other much more common STIs like chlamydia .
Thank you, Galen! I am in the US and was tested for chlamydia and Gonorrhea immediately after the first time I got sick in January. Turns out he also gave me chlamydia which I treated right away. I am still getting sore throats with canker sores on my tonsils and other sicknesses to this day. I will check out that link you shared.
If you gave him oral sex, you can also do a test from your throat to check no gonhorroea infection is present. Chlamydia is unlikely there , and the treatment for vaginal chlamydia would have cleared any chlamydia in the throat. I am presuming you had a syphilis blood test also.
