Hello,

Truvada is part of my current regimen. Would you say that I am covered against any new reinfection from the same or a new string of the virus?

Thank you

If your viral load is suppressed under your current regimen and you take the meds every day then there will be no viral resistance or rebound regardless of the regimen. Infection with another strain is highly unlikely as it would have to be resistant to both components of truvada. This has been reported earlier this year and resulted from unprotected sex with multiple partners. One of those partners must have been infected and on Truvada as a part of his treatment regimen which you must of been taking inconsistently to get resistance. so as long as you are practicing safe sex and communicating with your sexual partners about their status then you should be fine. That's essentially what my doctor told me
