There is definitely a benefit for various types of pain, and research which evidences this. However, we can not easily, and certainly not legally, obtain anything pure or safe, as I'm sure you know. There is a medication - Sativex - which uses THC but this is only licensed for MS sufferers. Would it were more widely available, eh?
Hi codie. I have used marijuana as a pain relief medicine. And for depression. If you would like more information from me is there another way I could contact you? Thanks
Just like opiates, marajuana does not take away pain, but it makes it easier to deal with. Unlike marajuana opiates plugs you up and loose your appetite. If you are going to use it, use it in the form of edibles. I suffer chronic pain & can't find edibles that taste good, usually they make me want to get sick to my stomach. So I do my own baking and its very cost effective.
Your comment interested me as I suffer badly with Peripheral Neuropathy pain and read that marijuana might help but it would only work smoked and not as an edible. I tried smoking it and really it was no help so I gave up so do you think it's worth trying as edible instead. Do you know if it works that way for PN. Thanks for the help
In my opinion, using marijuana as an edible works better than smoking it. It's easier to gauge your doses, start small and wait at least 2 hours to start working, and edibles help you keep your weight to healthy ranges. I started smoking at 22, due to migraine headaches. It does help with neuropathy pain better than any opiate drug can. Plus, you don't have to go through an opiate withdrawal which is the most awful thing I've gone through besides my lover passing away.
Yes it does, the effects of edibles last longer than smoking. Also you can have better control of how much you intake. For example a cookie I would start off eating only half wait for half an hour, if necessary eat the other half. I do my own cooking so I use only fresh ingredients, you will find that cooking it gives more doses than smoking. 1/8 = 12 joints or 48 cookies.
