Dizziness and Autoimmune Hepatitis

Hello.

I was diagnosed with AIH a few weeks ago and keep feeling very dizzy and like there is a lead weight inside my head with pressure at the back of my eyes and feeling weak.

I have been started on a course of Prednisolone and Adcal-D3, my question is could these issues be due to the side effects of the meds of due to my AIH?

Has anyone else suffered with above issues?

T.I.A Heather.

Hi Petart , I have Hep.B , so not quite the same as yourself , however before I started treatment I had similar symptoms which included fuzzy vision , loss of memory and a sense of " not being in the real world " . This cognitive disfunction disappeared as soon as I started treatment . It would appear that loss of function is caused by toxins in the blood caused by the liver not functioning properly . The good news is that any impairment is reversible and not perminant . Prednisolone is not a good drug as it has well known side affects which include insomnia and osteoporosis , so the problems you are experiencing could be caused by either the drugs or AIH or both .

Hi Griffon.

I`ve had these symptoms for a long time now it just seems to have gotten worse since I started taking the meds. Thank you for the information though, it has helped. Hopefully the fuzzy head and dizziness goes soon, hate feeling like this.

Stay safe

Hi , of course I can not say for sure , but my bet is that the cognitive problems you are experiencing are due to your liver problems . In my case the fuzziness disappeared within days of starting treatment and my viral count began to fall ( it went from off the scale to undetectable in about 12 weeks . ) My guess is that AIH could be a more difficult condition to treat , but I'm sure your symptoms will go once you get it under control .

I just started same treatment yesterday. Terrible night with blinding headache, as you say behind the eyes and insomnia. I believe side effects lessen as your body gets used to meds.

Hello. I have finished the Prednisolone now and waiting for results of my scan to see if anything has changed, still feel dizzy, weak and still have the pressure behind my eyes. Sorry you have had a bad night, I hope things calm down for you soon. Good luck with everything 😪😪
