What do you know now that you wish you had been told when you were first diagnosed?

I was extremely lucky with the Consultants that explained everything to me about my coinfection of HCV & HIV. I didn't know the steep learning curve that I was going to go through. As I learned about both of these viruses I had. I knew about Hepatitis B and had been vaccinated for this. Actually, I had been vaccinated over 20 years ago and had kept my boosters up to date. But to be honest my knowledge of Hepatitis C was non-existent. So you can see I have come along way in the last 2 years. I just wish I had known more before my infections.

One thing I wish I had seen before I had contracted these was a documentary. In hidden basements, bedrooms and bars across London, "Chemsex" is a documentary that exposes frankly and intimately a dark side to modern gay life. Traversing an underworld of intravenous drug use and weekend-long sex parties, "Chemsex" tells the story of several men struggling to make it out of 'the scene' alive - and one health worker who has made it his mission to save them. While society looks the other way, this powerful and unflinching film uncovers a group of men battling with HIV, drug addiction and finding acceptance in a changing world.
