Omron is the Rolls Royce of BP machines, my doctors all use them and I have for 30 years. They are validated by the British Hypertension Society. If your machine is less than 3 years old it's still covered by the 3 year guarantee. So if you're sure your machine is faulty get it changed or your money back.
There are reliable home BP monitors that take account of AF by taking the average of several readings taken in quick succession. The issue is that cardiac output and therefore BP varies beat to beat with AF so a single BP reading is not recommended. Unfortunately, many healthcare staff do not appreciate this, so it will often be the case that at your GP or hospital visit they will mistakenly rely on a single reading.
ah, interesting notion..
Not just an interesting notion my friend but an absolute fact! I too own an Omron but take at least four readings at a time and sometimes six! BP is not something to be misunderstood or trifled with so its important that you get an accurate estimate. Taking multiple readings and averaging is the best way to achieve this. Of course they don't have time to do this during hospital appointments or GP visits so they only take one reading, incorrectly conclude that you have hypertension and then prescribe beta blockers!
Omron RS7 Intelli Sense.

I use an Omron like my GP but beware taking a BP reading when in AF , it may not be an accurate reading .
Nothing can give a correct reading when in AF, it varies every time.
