I had really hoped my episodes had been fixed by ablation but I have had a 20 minute one today...so upset...looks like meds for me after all.

Hi there, I'm sorry to hear that. How long ago did you have the ablation? Was it your first? What did you have it for? Afib, SVT, ectopic beats? You may need another one to correct it. It's not uncommon for people to need two or more ablations to fix arrhythmias. It also depends on the skill of the EP performing the ablation. Sometimes they don't correctly identify all the areas that should be ablated. Ablation is a very clever and powerful technique but it still has to be done right.

Hi Mike thanks for replying. My ablation was only 2 months ago for SVT. The surgeon did as much as he could but the dodgy electricals were very close to the normal ones so he couldn't go any closer. I don't think he will go there again as the risk of a pacemaker will be very high. Just so gutted as I thought it was fixed and it came out of blue 😣

Hi again, Not an expert but I think 2 months is probably not long enough to judge the success of an ablation. Your heart tissue may still be healing. During that time your heart may do funny things. That's perfectly normal. Maybe give it a good few more months before drawing conclusions. Also, it helps a lot if you can remain hopeful. Surgical techniques and instrumentation are improving all the time. Also, it's a big world out there. Just because your doctor/EP is nervous/cautious or plain lacks confidence doesn't mean there aren't others out there with the needed skillset who will step up and get the job done right. No disrespect to your EP just saying he/shes's not the only one! I wouldn't throw in the towel so soon. Just be patient.

I have SVT and will be seeing the electrophysiologist on November 15th,I,ve avoided having an ablation for 5 years but now I have been getting short runs on a regular basis, others have had to be put back by the hospital ,these stop on their own . I am worried that it will not be successful I get the presyncope too where I come over fuzzy in the head and feel I,m going to faint. I will follow you to see if you improve,I wish you recovery as I know it’s horrible because it takes over your life.

it sure does! Constantly anticipating an episode sadly. Have been prescribed 1.25mg bisopropol if i want them but am really trying to avoid this route.

I was told my episodes would get more frequent with age, im 62 now so went with the ablation.

Hoping all goes well for you.

I thought the attacks were anxiety but I,ve been getting these short runs out of the blue just relaxing watching TV. I take Bisoprolol in morning and evening,I feel strange on it though and often cut them in half so I can function better. I,m 75 and had them for years but finally diagnosed in February 2017. I,m worrying because I,m moving to a bungalow and on a bad day i think how will I manage this move. Thanks for replying. Del
