Bisoprolol Reduction Update after ( 1 Week)

I use to take 5mg of bisoprolol for almost 2.5yrs .

HR then 56bpm. Recently (after 1 Week now) it was reduced to 2.5mg.

HR now 68bpm - so you can see the effect of differing bisoprolol strengths (at least 10bpm.) I feel I have more energy than before - whether its psychosomatic or overthinking the effects of less bisoprolol I'm not sure but numbers speak for themselves. I switched (a year ago) and took bisoprolol at night 2300. I did feel less tired in the daytime so it worked for me. Please note you need to speak to your doctor or consultant about switching. Good luck

Hi Nick, I’m about to start the same process from 2.5 to 1.25. I was alway concerned as I had low pulse rate before, around 50bpm. The reason for the reduction is due to taking on a challenge which will see an increase in exercise. When I done this before my BP and pulse drops and I noted my pulse at 40 bpm and a BP which was on the very low end of normal. Problem for me just now is I have an increase in my palpitations, which is frustrating. May need to discuss further with the doctor. Interesting to see the effect of the drug on you and the increased heart rate.

When I first started taking 5mg bisoprolol my heart rate was as low as 45bpm gradually levelled out to 52bpm then 58bpm Your body adjusts to medications over a period of time hence these different numbers IMHO. Strange that your pulse and BP gets lower - must be straight after exercising? - benefits of exercise is dilated blood vessels and arteries resulting in lower blood pressure readings. However this only happens with regular exercising. Definitely seek doctors approval first. Good luck.
