Heart went out of rhythm for 10 or so seconds today on a walk.

So I went on a slow paced walk today, when all of a sudden I started feeling the irregular beats in my chest, it gradually got worse and it peaked for about 10 seconds when my heart felt like it was totally out of rhythm. No other symptoms besides a surge of anxiety ofcourse . I have been dealing with PVCS/PACS/ECTOPICS whatever you want to call them for over ten years. Lately however I find that they come on more frequent and consecutive, resulting in a feeling of total erratic heartbeat, it’s so debilitating and scary, every-time it happens. I’ve done all the tests a-z, docs put me on a beta blocker, doesn’t seem to really be doing anything. Any similar stories or thoughts out there? Thank you.

Yes similar story here, PVC's for many years which have got worse since going on Bisoprolol and a few other BP meds after a very high BP episode put me in hospital for a couple of days, which was symptomless apart from ectopics. 1 x 24 hour Holter and 2 x 7 day holter's picked up a very short run of NSVT and loads of PVC's and a few couplets.

Eventually got to see an EP after 2 years and he referred me for an angiogram which I am having on Monday.

Bisoprolol doesn't seem to do a lot for them for me either.

Sorry I can't offer more help as I am still on the journey myself, but I can sympathise when they come on, the anxiety cycle just makes them worse. Not great fun are they.

What tests have you had?

4 separate holter monitors for a total of 2 month readings, ekgs, ultrasound, stress tests and multiple blood work. They can see the pvcs and pacs, but keep saying it’s not life threatening, sure doesn’t feel that way when your hearts out of rhythm for what seems be an eternity. They put me on Bisopropal to see if it was lessen the burden. It’s funny cause I can go weeks with no episodes and then weeks with an episode daily or two. I’m at my wits end.

Hi My ectopics/PVCs started 20 months ago. Quite scary especially during the night!22% on Holter. Cardiologist started me on 1.25mg Bisoprolol, then 2.5, then 3.75 and then 5 mg per day. Blood pressure and pulse then too low. Bisoprolol basically did nothing for the ectopics. Then tried Verapamil with no benefit, but the good news is that I'm now on Flecainide (plus Bisoprolol) 200mg per day and it's like a miracle-no ectopics! It's a specific anti-arrhythmic .Can only be prescribed by a Cardiologist in UK and your heart has to be structurally normal. On list for ablation but thinking I may just stay on the drug. I feel like a new person. Of course I can't say it would help you but maybe worth consideration? I did read somewhere that Bisoprolol only helps around 50% of people with ectopics. Hope there's a solution for you. Best wishes

Please download the 'Arrhythmia Checklist' and keep a diary of events of when these 'episodes' are happening, once the checklist has been completed, contact your health care provider, they wish to recommend a holter monitor or recommend a change of medication. Hi, I had atrial fibrillation for a few years, during that time I had two catheter ablations which had limited success. I went on the waiting list for my third when I found this video youtu.be/oZYXBYAHhN8 uploaded by a cardiologist in York. In short I started taking magnesium glycinate and I haven’t had an episode of AF since. I’m not saying it works for everyone and you need to make sure it doesn’t impact any medication you are on (you need to research this or speak to your doctor), but it’s definitely worth a try if you haven’t already. Good luck!
