Living with Atrial Fibrillation and after effects of a Stroke

Was diagnosed with AF about 5 yrs ago on my birthday! Had to be admitted to Northern gen Hospital Cardio ward. Received excellent treatment and was getting used to taking all my meds and was losing some weight and running around of. However a yr ago I collapsed with a Stroke . The Stroke unit at Sheffield Hallamshire hospital cared for me and after discharge a team was put together to help me, and now after 12 months I am finally feeling better! It is a severe shock to the system when one is active! But I always had a Posiitive attitude, and today a Professor friend of mine told me that he was so glad I was alive and did not have any visible signs of a Stroke. I am a Stroke Survivor!!

So glad you have got through this. I too have AF due to scarring of the node that generates the signal, this scarring was caused by a bypass op 6 yrs ago. I know I am at greater risk of a stroke and to read such a positive story like yours brings comfort. Keep on keeping on!
