Stoping metoprolol

Hi all

I just got back from my cardiologist and she decided to take me off metoprolol 25mg 2 x a day and put me on diltiazem 120mg 1x a day.

I was told to just stop it and not to worry about it, however I read that I can get a bad arrhythmia if just stopped and not tapered off of it.

Also a bit nervous about taking the new medication and observing if I have to wait sometime before I start the new one

Please any advise will help thank you

I've been on Diltiazem for 2 years for BP! Went from 360, 240, 180 dosages to now 120 but I still can't tolerate bc it drops my BP, so I take half of that which is 60mg daily. Honestly, I no longer think I need it but don't want to stop abruptly because I did before and my HR and BP went up.

My cardiologist wanted to try something new and I told him no more experimenting with me. So I'm just weening myself off all meds slowly.

I was on a low dose of Metoprolol for over three years. Doctor stopped me and tried others several times without incident. I finally got him to agree to take me off altogether and my defibrillator tripped for the first time about a month later. That led to another change to Bisoprolol, which surprisingly I seem to be tolerating altogether. But, my incidences of V-Tach increased to several per month with another near trip of my defibrillator. So, they scheduled me for a heart cath last week and found one of my bypass grafts had clogged again. Now I have two stents in that graft in addition to one other bypasses and one other stent.

I still feel as though these Beta blockers are slowly killing me. I also have Glaucoma and take a BB eyedrop (Latanaprost) daily for that as well. I have read that up to 70% of eyedrops can work their way into the system. Now I am back on Plavix as well and just feel like a got run over by an 18 wheeler every morning.

When I changed one of my meds, they had me weened off, then started new med.

I would follow the advice I mean off of it the way you're supposed to because I was on 25 mg twice a day Metoprolol and I went ahead and tried to taper off as well but I did it within probably a week I believe it was probably too fast because as I was coming off the drug I began to notice my muscles were stiff and now that I'm fully off I am still trying to recover a month later I still have stiff muscles I believe this has caused me to pick up hypertension so I've begun to lower my blood pressure at lose weight plus eat healthy I don't know if I stayed on it for maybe a month 25 mg one time of day it's just maybe things would have been better until whenever I have to deal with the stiff body, incredibly hard just walking around the house it's like my body's in a panic and now the doctor said he and is sending me to see a neurologist good Lord.... and for the first time in my life my blood pressure is 140 when prior to getting sick I was always normal
