Saw the cardiologist on Friday for my eptopics and palpitations he is sending me for the standard tests echo / holter
He has taken me off the 3x20mg propranolol and put me on bisoprolol 1x2.5mg per day but tonight I've had the worst palpitations and I've had for about 2 hours what I'd like to know is how long does it usually take for bisoprolol to get into your system I've taken it for 3 days so far the first 2 days I was fine but tonight i might have to go to A+E
Cheers phil

I was in the same boat with the propanolol and two days ago my doctor put me on Sotalol 80 mg twice daily and i’m starting to feel a bit better! Some ectopics are present but I don’t feel them as before...generally speaking i think that the meds take like 10 days to fully kick in...i also started taking something for the anxiety before i sleep! Thinking about the ectopics usually makes them worse and something for the anxiety always always helps...Thankfully i’m better...
To be honest these extra beats and palpitations are starting to scare me now I've never had anything like this before and I'm not sure if the meds are doing me any good I know I've not given them a real chance to kick in yet
Does anyone know if I can take xanax with the bisoprolol I'm sure alot of my trouble is down to anxiety
I've been on 2.5mg bisoprolol a little over 6 months now for similar reasons. When I initially started on it, my resting heart rate got as low as 50's. When I woke up it could have been as low as high 40's. Now things have settled, my resting HR is mid 60's. I think it takes your body a while to adjust to bisoprolol.
I'm no longer obssessive about checking heart rate and things. My palpitations have pretty much disappeared now. I had 2 a couple of days ago, but aside from that, I don't think I've had any more in about a month or at least any that I noticed.
I'd imagine your raised frequency of ectopics are down to the changing of medication. Just a guess though as I'm not medically trained.
Thanks for the reply that makes me feel a whole lot better my trouble is I'm very impatient lol I'll keep on taking the bisoprolol and see what happens
Hi i would recommend contacting your Cardiologist secretary to find out the name of their Electrophysiologist Cardiologist at your Cardiology Department as they will be more qualified to advice you with the Electrical side of the Heart ,it could be helpful .You could contact PALs, just call the Hospital Reception and they can give you the Email address at the Hospital for PALs that you attend and they could arrange another appointment and look onto your concerns if you mentioned you would like a second opinion of your Heart Beats
and i am sure you would get another appointment and maybe another opinion on a plan of action and treatment and some piece of mind too.
