A year and a half ago i had an ablation for the occasional Af that i used to get! Ablation went fine and all was good...post the ablation i was told to expect ectopics and that was a normal part of the healing process! Had a couple 1st week and then after a month and a half...then was all good...8 months later started ectopics all the time and was driving me nuts for about a month! Dr told me to switch bisoprolol to Verapamil and this was like magic..BAAM, they were gone and i was over the moon! That was in last October! A month ago they started again for no good reason!! Nearly all the time...5-10 per minute...dr said u have to ignore it but I can’t...heart is normal and i never ever had any ectopics pre the ablation!!! I was told to switch to propanolol but not really helping!! Maybe minor decrease...i need to get them off my mind!! This is ruining my life!! I’m a 38 year old fit guy...i exercise 5 or 6 times a week and i eat healthy most of the time...any advice?!!!!

Ectopics a year and a half post ablation!
Hello
I feel the same. 8 - 12 skipped beats per minute and it is crazy ( pressure in my chest ). When it starts it last 3 months and than it is OK for few months and than it starts again ... I did not have an ablation. I tried Mg and it helps a little bit. I also take beta blocker ( nebivolol ) .
6 weeks ago I started with antidepressive because I could not get them of my mind and at the moment I am OK. Think about it.
So have the antidepressants helped? Are you still getting the ectopic beats? Im willing to try anything to get rid of them...
Following an ablation for SVT I had a lot of ect optics for months, and they bothered me so much I developed major anxiety, which made them worse. Finally, I accepted that I might have them forever, that they weren't dangerous, and I basically lost my fear of them, and they went away for the most part. That was five years ago, and now, following major stress in my life, they're back, so I'm working on trying to accept them because it's easy to fixate on them, and that makes them worse. DR. Danjay Gupta addresses them in several YouTube videos. I know how upsetting they are. Good luck! I am taking propranolol and anti-anxiety meds. I'm also taking magnesium supplements and keep my potassium levels up and staying hydrated.
Thanks for your reply and reassurance. Can i know your propanolol dose please? Thanks again
When I started with Paroxat ( paroxitin 10 mg ) it was even worse after one week. After 4 weeks skipped beats slowly dissaperaed. Now I take 15mg ( I slowly increase the dose to 20 mg ) I also decreased Nebilet from 7,5mg to 5 mg only ( half in the morning and half in the evening - I did it by myself even my dr prescribed 7,5mg ) I have to say that I feel much better with Paroxat- so calm.
Sadly i went into A-fib last night...nth works for me except the cardioversion...i’m back to sinus now and was told that I’ll eventually need to do another ablation. Let me mention that all this started from a very spicy meal! If you suffer from ectopics and/or history of A-fib add spicy food to all the other more common triggers! God bless
