I’ve not posted in a while as my SVT symptoms were being managed with Bisoprolol. Yesterday I underwent a successful Ablation, my question to those who have undergone this procedure is.... How long does it take for my heart to recover? (Forgot to ask surgeon!!) I’ve been having ectopics & tight chest today which I assume is normal, just wondering how long I’ll be feeling like this.
Many thanks in advance.

It's impossible to say really as we all respond differently and depending how much work has been carried out to the heart. I've had three ablations and they all took different lengths of time to get over. The first was about 3 weeks, the second months and after the third I was better almost immediately. The general rule after an ablation is to do nothing for the first week, not much else for the second and then gradually build up with gentle walks. It can take up to 6 months for the heart to heal, scarring to form and block the rogue pulses.
I had 6 months AF free last year, but now back in permanent AF. My heart rate doesn't go very high now and I can live a fairly normal life. You may find you have some episodes of AF until the scar tissue forms properly. Jean
Hi, i had my heart ablation last may for svt, was told to carry on as normal even go back to work after a couple of days , however it took me 2 weeks before I felt completely over it as my heart would speed up at the smallest of things in the first week. All the best with your recovery .
