Red Wine

Does anyone take a glass of red wine before bed? Do they find it has ant benefit on PVCs or blood pressure? I’m not a drinker but have PVCs and am ready to try anything!

I have a small glass of red every night. I used to have a can of lager but that 100% caused palpitations because of the gas in it (one and a half times the volume of the can). Red wine does not cause them as long as I do not swallow air as I drink and, if it helps you relax, it may help with PVCs. I also find I swallow a lot of air with hot drinks and that pressure seems to cause palpitations often for hours. Don't know about blood pressure.

Good luck, don't drink too much!

Thanks for responding. So if I’ve never drank before, I’m 44 by the way what’s a reasonable amount? I’m not educated at all in alcohol. What would be a brand I’d look for.

I would not want to encourage you to become a drinker, there are slight risks in even small amounts. If you still want to try, a small glass per night will not have a high risk but try to skip a couple nights altogether each week. Take small sips, breathe out before you swallow. I am in UK, I buy cheap wine at Aldi. Read the labels, medium or slightly sweet is probably best for a beginner. Wine is acid, can damage teeth.

Thank you, if I knew that the red wine would help calm the PVCs when they are bad i’d try just about anything! I will keep what you said in mind. Thanks for the tips!

You will do much better to take a magnesium supplement, provided you don't have any kidney problems. (Don't use magnesium oxide, and don't take so much that you have diarrhea) Try it for at least three months; six months or more would be better. Our modern diets are seriously lacking in magnesium, and it is essential for our hearts.
