SVT episode or...?

Hi all, new here!

I'm 33 years old and have a long history of PVCs and POTS as well as very random and rare SVT episodes, also a history of panic disorder.

Tonight after a full stomach (bad trigger) I went downstairs to do laundry and came upstairs with a heavy finished load. I sat it on my bed, whilst standing went to start folding, fed my fish and turned back around and BAM.

Had a few typical PVCs, but these dragged out longer than normal, and were the ones that piggy back off each other (forgot the names) but lasted about 5-8 long seconds..felt them in my throat as well, I went to lay down and before I did my heart went quickly into racing about 180-200bpm. I laid flat on my bed and did a deep cough, this started bringing it back down. I then proceeded to get extremely hot and my underarms got sweaty. Heart rate was normal rhythm after this.

Thoughts? Did I have a quick panic attack from the ectopics or was this a combination? I am now cold, with shivers randomly and I'm not sure if that's adrenaline from maybe a panic attack or SVT related...also really tired although it is about the time I'd go to bed.

Thanks all in advance!

Hi there, I also have PVC's, panic disorder, anxiety, and adrenaline or exercise induced SVT's (never caught on holter). My SVT's usually start like yours with some PVC's and then it immediately jumps to 250 bpm. I lay down and cough or splash ice water on my face and that does the trick. Lately, I have been under extreme anxiety and stress and have had my heart rate shoot up to 180 but it doesn't really feel like my other SVT's where my heart is jackhammering. Not sure if it really is an SVT but it is not as fast as what I am used to or if it is a panic attack. I think you could have had an SVT and then immediately went into panic mode. The shivering and sweating definitely happen when we are in a panic and when you have an SVT that is an extremely scary situation (at least for me!). You also said it started to come down which could also be an indicator it was panic and not an SVT which usually start and stop abruptly. I wish I could be of more help!

Hi I'm 63 years old and have had similar symptoms for 45 years. In my experience I know there is a link between my heart and my stomach. But I am finding that a dose of Gaviscon antacid has a very calming effect. Last night I went to an Italian restaurant after 2 cans of beer then a pint of cider on the way then a glass of red wine when I got there. Then a decent sized spicy pasta on top of scallops. But before I went I had a dose of Gaviscon then another when I got home. I woke in the middle of the night with a racing heart but no PVC's at all. Over a few hours my heartrate settled and all was well.

Try it.

Hello

How unpleasant for you

I’ve had svt ablated but It for decades so I really understand those awful feelings. it’s really difficult to differentiate between panic and svt

I found I had to find ways to relax ( meditainment dvds excellent ) this did put me back in rhythm . More research is needed about this panic and hearts jumping around . For me they were inseparable

I’m 25.. I have panic disorder, anxiety, OCD (over my heart), sinus tachycardia, and PVCs.

I have PVCs every now and then and when I feel them I panic! For over a year I was waking up every morning with a HR that was 160-180s and they couldn’t figure out why. It was only in the mornings. They said it was panic attacks, now they are saying IST but they did say my monitors never showed SVT.. but they finally upped my BP meds after changing them 2-3 times and it has help me a ton, except for my PVCs I still get them and still panic EVERY SINGLE TIME. I hate them. After I go upstairs, put my daughter in her car seat, eat carbs, eat dairy, bend over, turn over in bed... ill feel the PVCs. They have taken over my life and I hate it.
