My husband had three 15 years ago and 4 in the last 3 years including a hybrid ablation. He was just in the hospital for another one but his heart was too scarred. They put him on tikasyn. If that doesn't work, he'll have to get a pacemaker. He's only 50.

That's not nice for someone so young to have a problem heart that needs a pacemaker. The only thing I can say is that a lot of people feel so much better when they have one fitted. What is his heart rate doing that would make him need one?

He's in a fib all the time 154 bpm and more for hours at a time. He's down for hours, not enough energy to move, dizzy nauseous and dangerously close to a stroke or heart attack. His quality of life has diminished to nil. We have two adult children with autism and he has little energy to interact with them. There is no surgery they haven't tried. The cardiologist has tried everything to keep him from getting a pacemaker because of his age. So much more dangerous at his age. People don't seem to understand that a pacemaker in a 50 year old has much more chance for complications than in a 75 year old.
Shirley, that must be awful for your poor husband to be at that rate all the time!! I know how dreadful it feels, but have only ever had experience of it for perhaps 8 hours. I did once spend months around 130 and that was bad enough. Are there no more medicines they can try? I guess he's had Amiodarone and Flecainide and they have failed (they may have different names in the US, I'm in the UK) .
How bad was his heart rate before he had his first ablation?
There's another site on Health Unlocked called AF Association. It's a lot busier than this one and you may get some helpful advice from there.
Really feel for you all.
