If I have understood correctly, the major trial 'CABANA', which was expected to show a clear advantage of ablation is, in fact, showing the opposite, ie that medication alone leads to lower mortality, stroke, heart failure and similar measures. Full results due soon, I believe.
This is already causing controversy, but I don't think anyone is saying it is a bad trial (it's a big, classic study by well-respected cardiologists).
The rush to ablate was already dying down somewhat - what next?
I'm now glad I didn't have ablation for my fibrillation.
Look forward to comments from practitioners.

Its not as positive as they hoped with apparently little difference between meds and ablation long term BUT if you have tried all the meds and the lifestyle changes Ablation is the next stage to restoring QOL and despite its shortcomings for some people it works well - it may take a few shots at it , but, it can be a godsend and provided you get the right EP actually carrying out the procedure it can be a godsend for some - that option needs to be kept alive and improved where possible until something less invasive appears.
