Do any of you notice a connection with having sugar and afib? Not sure if it’s just a coincidence or not but seems like when I have a sugary dessert I wake up in middle of night with my carotid artery pounding.......aside from the sugar do any of you get that pounding pulse in your neck??.

Sugar
I have been told many times by ayurveda practitioners that there is a link with digestion. Its my experience too - a heavy meal - too much cheese - or too late at night sometimes triggers an attack.
Hi Eliza. Yes I do get the pulsating on just the right side. I. Have been wondering if it has anything to do with recent drug change and, then being put back on the original one again, as only noticed it since then. Thought I was about the have a stroke to start with, it’s not a nice sensation. I looked it up and it seems to make several suggestions, some relating to heart issues and, describes it as rebound pulsation. Worth checking with GP maybe. Interesting about the sugar. I have found some things, including wine sadly and any cold drinks from the fridge, but mostly positional and lifting heavy objects are the triggers.
The healthier your diet, the better: AFib is reported to respond to anything which is out of kilter in the body, so making yourself as healthy as possible will help to minimise it. This includes avoiding processed food, added sugar, too much coffee etc. Concentrate on lots of fruit and vegetables, wholegrains (brown rice, wholemeal flour etc), proteins eg fish, but not too much red meat etc.
