I'm 22 years old and have just had my first ablation 3 weeks ago. The doctors didn't tell me much about it but I've read up on it and apparently you can get flutters for a while after the procedure. I'm still getting the odd flutter here and there daily but it's definitely calmed down. I suffer with extreme anxiety normally but it seems to have doubled since the ablation, I think it's pretty understandable for this to happen but apart from the odd flutter and anxiety I've been feeling really sick still. I get headaches and still sometimes have a racing heart. I can sometimes still feel my heart in my chest and a new feeling has come up. It only happens When I'm really stressed or anxious about something. It's like my heart beats and then pauses and continues to do this until I can calm myself down. I'm also having problems with my blood pressure. My doctor told me to monitor and record it for him for a few days as he thinks it's high blood pressure. I tried to explain that my anxiety makes it all worse and that being there at the appointment actually really stressed me out. Monitoring my bp for three days now and it's really low as I expected from a little research I've done myself. I just want to know if anyone else has had similar problems? It's consuming my life, it's really dragging me down and I need help. Please if anyone can give me advice I'd really appreciate it

Svt ablation
Hi sorry your feeling like this. Iv had 5 ablation for svt and they all were unsuccessful for me. I still had flutters, missed beats and palpitations still after my ablations. In the end my heart went into low heart rate and now I have a pacemaker and it's controlled the palpitations slightly.
My surgeon said the ablation was 100% successful. I don't know what's normal and what's not.
One of my ablation was 85% and I was told no more palpitations for me but 6 months after and I was back to square one.
After ablation it's normal to have ectopic and flutters but if the palpitations come back and you have the same symptoms that means the ablation wasn't successful.
Three weeks is very early. Just relax and rest. The heart has taken a beating and will take time to settle down. The scar tissue needs to form, and then the SVT and other strange feelings should gradually disappear. It takes up to six months or more to see the full effects. For now, resting is the best policy - so watch your favourite films and forget about it. The calmer you are, the calmer your heart will be.
For more information about ablations, I suggest you research on the AFA healthunlocked site.
Life would be wonderful without panic and stress but dealing with any heart problem just exacerbates every panic and every "What if" you are thinking. I have SVT's and ectopics, a variation of WPW and suspected Af...... to be honest every single one of the odd beats terrifies me. I am not suitable for ablation and some days I find it so hard to keep on top of the fear. On good days I just try to live within my abilities (trying not to set them off)
and still try to feel as normal as the next person. I think it is probably the panics that are giving you most of your symptoms and that if we weren't constantly aware of every heartbeat we would probably find that loads of people have similar symptoms and are not aware that there is anything wrong. I hope that yours will calm down but the only advice I can give to you is to try to find techniques to slow your panic down and see if these things improve more quickly... I know it's easier said than done as I try every single day. Also try to accept that it's ok to have things not quite right until they settle down and you are once again checked out by cardiologist. I wish you good luck in feeling better soon.
Thank you for your reply. It's good to know people understand what you are feeling. I wish I was notified on what the recovery was going to be like. For me I woke up after the ablation and they were basically trying to push me out the door. My local gp has no knowledge of WPW or what the ablation involves so he isn't much help. I see my cardiologist in the next few days so hopefully he can put my mind at ease. I'm sorry to hear that you are unable to have the ablation as I've heard many success stories as painful and scary as it all is i would rather go through this then to be constantly scared.
hi i wondered given you are only 22 do you have any other underlying conditions? ....It sounds like your saying your palps were due to anxiety and panic attacks, ablation wil not prevent panic attacks, different mechanism as its an adrenal response that causes panic.
I have no idea, I've been trying to work out all my symptoms but it's pretty much useless.
I don't know what to think or what to do to make myself feel at all better.
Things have picked up a little bit since this post. Though it feels like every week it's something different. Cardiologist appointment on Wednesday to hopefully help with the symptoms
Just read in a previous comment you have Wolff parkinson white syndrome this is where an extra electrical pathway between your heart's upper and lower chambers causes a rapid heartbeat. The ablation is an attempt to correct it. Have you tried meditation to ease the anxiety?? works for me best of luck x
