Is anyone using xarelto or mutaq for afib. If so, could you share your experience with either of these drugs, and tell me the most common side effects. Also, did it stop the recurrence of afib attacks?
Thank you in advance,
Barbara

Hi Barbara
Firstly there is a specialist AF forum on Health Unlocked and very active so you might wish to look there for more answers
xarelto is an anti-coagulant, so that is not going to change your AF at all, BUT it does help prevent the 5 times higher risk of stroke which all us AF sufferers are most afraid of, so that's good.
Mutaq is Dronedarone, which is a rhythm control drug which does control heart rhythm and is a very powerful drug. Like nearly all the rhythm control drugs there are potentially side effects and your doctor/specialist should have briefed you on these and what to watch out for, and if this has not happened go back and insist on it, or go to your pharmacist
You should be trying to get in front of an electrophsyiologist who are the specialists in heart rhythm disorders and not a more generalist, cardiologist that will help you a lot, and read all you can to educate yourself on the subject sites like the AFA in the UK and AFib in the US are fantastic sources of information.
Be well
Ian
I was on Multaq for awhile but experienced swollen feet, ankles, calves. Switched to Flecanaide.
