Frequent Infection, Where am I missing something?

Hello Community,

I pray that we're still incharge of our healthcare. Yesterday the 16th marked 14months post op TAH+BSO.

Hormonal imbalance (high &low libido):✓

Rheumatoid arthritis in fingers:✓

Buzzing head with issues in neck discs: ✓

Weight gain:✓

Blood count fluctuations:✓

Sight issues:✓

To top it all, I got frequent bouts of infection. I don't feel itchy but some irritating and burning sensation on the eternal entry to the mine🙃. I've been put on antibiotics every now and then. I feel fed up. NB: Am not sexually active.

But above all these, I've maintained my humour, my femininity, my job, my kids coz hubby expired. I've learnt to adjust accordingly. But this infection bouts????!!!!!! Just to mention, I hung my mother's unions in the ultra violet rays (sunshine).

What seems to be the problem then? Pls advise me.

Thank. And stay safe.

Possibly the antibiotics

Thank you Della30,

Do you imply I use more antibiotics or what's contained in my body after surgery is causing the chaos? Pls clarify and reiterate.

Hey Lunje, I meant using too many antibiotics could be the problem. Our bodies are extremely clever and adapting and changing. You have had a major surgery and your body is trying to cope, change and adapt. The frequent antibiotics use thwarts what they body is trying to do which in the end will make you resistant to antibiotics. You are going through a lot or have done. Give the body time to recover esp your immune system. Do things that strengthen s your body to heal itself - relaxation, breathing, just moving nothing strenuous, eat right n enjoy your food, calming yourself down. Don’t throw anything at the ‘mine’ you know it is equipped to clean itself. Have some good yoghurt I must add and put your body in a state where it does not feel like a war is raging all the time. I hope this helps

I read you loud and clear and concur with your sentiments.

Thank you for the full-bodied 😘 advice.

It's like we've been born again. Have to take it slow with everything and nothing using baby steps.

Thank you

Hi Lunje

Sounds like you’re having a tough recovery. Mine was similar. Are you on HRT? That might help some of your symptoms.

As for the infection, have you been examined? I had recurrent infections that were treated as a UTI so given repeated short courses of antibiotics, but they only suppressed an infection on my vaginal cuff. In the end, it had to be excised and cauterised, so it might be worth getting it looked at, just to be on the safe side.

Regards your fingers, do you mean osteoarthritis? Either way, both are painful but HRT may help.

Take care.

Thanks RachaelE.

Am not on HRT. Might consider it.

And yes my fingers is all about osteoarthritis. Am telling you my thumb is currently on permanent recess with pain. When it snaps and mistakenly folds, ouch ouch ouch😞😞😞. Snapping it back is a visit to hell. If that's what hell tastes like,,, Jesus I need you.

Thank you for responding.

🙏😘

And maybe just to add, one of my legs is having dry skin. Have used ointment, liquid paraffin, and other antibiotics but it's still not clearing. I guess those are the hormonal imbalances I got to deal with due to lack of oestrogen and others.

Hi Lunje

I hope you start to feel better soon. I would suggest discussing HRT with your doctor. All your symptoms can be linked to oestrogen deficiency, including the dry skin. I use Aveeno, oat based moisturiser, which helps to soothe the itching, but HRT has improved the overall condition of my skin. You don’t have to put up with it! Also, please ask your doctor to examine you to ensure you don’t have any infection on scar tissue.

Take care

Thanks alot Rachael. Will plan to see my surgeon who doubles as an Obgyn as well. It will be much easier to trace history.
