Hi everyone this is my fist time posting on any forum 😬 I am 7 weeks post abdomen TH plus Ovaries removed. I have had great support from my family and have been able to take things very easy. I went to see GP last week and we felt that I would be ok to return to work in 2 weeks time (now 1 week) So with this in mind I started to try and resume Normality and doing more. But this has left me with pain in my stomach and Diarrhea. So now I'm questioning am I really ready to return back to work (I work in the NHS my Job does involve seating at a desk and with PT care) and should I go back to my GP. I would appreciate any guidance 🤪 Many thanks

It’s very early days yet. Be kind to yourself & try not to run before you can walk. I think it depends on your age as to how quickly you recover to be honest. I’m 60 and went back to work on a phased return after 10 weeks & suffered with pains and swollen tummy. I’m now six months down the line and still get tummy pains and sometimes have to rush to the loo & my tummy swells up. It’s just a case of pacing yourself. If I do too much one day I suffer for it the next. I thought I should have been bouncing around at 7 weeks the same as you as surgically I’d healed well. This wasn’t the case. It’s a slow and steady recovery. Be kind to yourself and listen to your body. It’s good you’ve got support. Let them do all the heavy stuff-I did too much too soon as live alone and suffered for it-so take advantage of having help. Walk daily and build up your stamina and you’ll find it will help but slow and steady wins the race. Hope this helps. Look after yourself because there’s only one of you so be kind!

Hi,

I am 8 months out of an radical abdominal hysterectomy for cervical cancer (every thing removed including 1/3 of my vagina). It took me a good 11 weeks to return to my job and that was still pushing it for me. I think you should respect what your body is telling you and to take your time getting back into the swing of things. Still after 8 months I have pangs and weird feelings down there. I was told it could take a good year before the body heals. Good luck and if you have any questions or concerns, I feel you should direct them to your doctor for sure. Feel better and best wishes for a speedy recovery.

This was the question I was going to ask too , I am 5 weeks post OP from a total hysterectomy due fibroids and endometriosis.

I had a sick note for 6 weeks but there no way I can return to work next week. Need another 3 to 4 weeks off as my job involves standing.

I have the same as you sharp pain in my stomach if I do to much and I get dizzy. Also the HRT I have been put on is just settling in at moment which gives me headaches.

I am 46 and I went to gym before I had my op but I still feel exhausted on a afternoon. Do you feel tired also ?
