Hi there! Im from USA, Illinois. I came across this site and joined. Im 3 weeks post op of vaginal hysterectomy. No lap assistance.
I have been dealing with extreme bloating and pain for going on the 5th day now. Im miserable. Its so hard to pass gas and if I do it hurts so bad in the lower abdomen. Im taking some pills for it, up to 3 times a day and drinking peppermint tea and not much help. Ive called the dr and they suggested these things. Anyone else experienced this? It hurts to walk or laugh, my lower abdomen/pelvis area feels so sensitive on the inside.

I’m 3 weeks post op TAH-BSO. The first week was horrendous for gas, passing wind & even urinating. This was the most painful part of the procedure for me. Like you it hurt me to laugh, cough & sneeze. I took peppermint capsules, Wind-Ease chewable tablets & Andrews Salts. It took about 3 days to take the edge off but once I was able to do a BM each time got easier.
My hysterectomy is due on the 21st. I’ve been told to eat porridge as it helps with the gas, soaks it up. Evidently the gas is caused by the “hole” left by the “missing” organs. So we will be susceptible until the body gets used to or stuff shifts around and fills said hole. And they say cows are adding to the green house gas problem 😄😄
I am nearly 5 weeks post op of a full hysterectomy and am still suffering with bloat or swelly belly, granted not as bad as the first couple of weeks ,but like you have been drinking peppermint tea or warm water, eating liquorice and orange juice. Get your husband/partner to rub your back, that helps. I was on two lots of laxative as I never had a bowel movement for 5 days, keep drinking plenty and move a little bit don’t overdo it. It will get better but takes time.
Thank you! Im supposed to go to work by the end of next week and I keep thinking how will i work if this sticks around? But, i believe the tea might be helping, also I purchased some gas relief pills that were stronger than the first ones I took and keep taking my stool softener. Yesterday was my first day feeling back to normal.
Good days and bad days, I used buscopan to help with the bloating to, try not overdo, if you feel tired next day reassess what you did extra the day before and reduce it. Glad their is a forum as we are quite on our own with this. Good Luck.
Good Morning! I am in NJ! Chewable gas pills will be your best friend for weeks to come! I take two at once...Dr said it is ok...three times a day, especially before bed!. I also wear a pregnancy Belly Band...they are cheap and you buy them on line...also walking is best for gas and the belly band helps support your belly so you can better get around. I also use an ice pack once or twice a day which helps. Hope you feel better soon...we are all a work in progress. Get the gas pills today ❤️👍🏼👍🏼
Just to add, take warm water as opposed to cold. Helps as well. But with swollen tummy, God help us. I nolonger care about it's size till healing is done. I eat to get better, not stay in shape. So I balance my diet as healing is required. I shall slay after am back to normal. When? I don't know but am keeping the faith. 12Weeks post op TAH+BSO
