Prostap for fibroids -i’m A newbie!

Hi, I had my first of 3 monthly Prostap injections 2 days ago in my stomach to shrink fibroids before surgery (myomectomy or hysterectomy). I have one v large fibroid (13x23cm) and several others...basically wherever you can get them, I have them 🙄

I just wondered when and what to expect as side effects. I felt wierd straight after the jab...and had to go to sleep...then yesterday v spaced out with a dull ache in the back of my head. Today I have period like aches...and all this after only 2 days 😅

Is all this normal? And what else may come?!

The first month I felt like I was going to have a period with pains in my stomach. The second month not as bad and the third nothing. Your stomach will swell and you may feel sick but it goes quickly. I started with hot flushes after a couple of weeks. Don’t be surprised if you start waking up during the night.

It took about 6 weeks for the symptoms to wear off after my last injection thought it was probably helped by the hrt I was given by the consultant.

Thank you so much! That really helped. I just wasn’t sure what to expect. I have been fine today...will wait and see 🤞🏻

I put myself on the cancellation list for a hysterectomy this morning so hoping I get to have my operation before December as that’s the time I was given with date tbc. I have fibroids, enlarged uterus and adenomyosis. If you want to ask me anything feel free to contact me. 😀

I hope you get op before December! Am still waiting for a date...not sure if will be myomectomy or hysterectomy yet :/

Will be def asking you questions as they arise...the lovely ladies on here are far more informative than the docs!!

My massive stomach has definitely got more swollen this weekend 🙄 but no pain for 2 days which is the main thing!! I am a teacher and the kids are whispering that they think I am pregnant 😢
