Calling All Readers!

This is our October 2020 Reading Rabbits Book Posting. You can post your comments and suggestions about any book/magazine/newspaper that does/doesn't have to do with any medical issues on this posting. You can mention about your favorite authors, as well. This posting will be pinned to the Pinned Posts for easier access.

For a mini update on how โ€œ The Sea Is My Brother: The Lost Novelโ€, by Jack Kerouac, I have gotten midway through page 313. Itโ€™s where Jack is talking to Sebastian Sampas in a letter saying he plans to be visiting just in time for Thanksgiving and also wanted to say that itโ€™s been a while since George (GJ) would say anything to anyone. People sometimes change over time.

Okay! Canโ€™t wait to hear about what everyone else has been reading lately either from the end of last month or has started this month.

I just finished LIVE LONG, DIE SHORT a Guide to Authentic Health and Successsfull Aging by Roger Landry, MD. Borrowed it from the public library but plan to buy a copy for my library (which is the highest compliment l can give a book). Granni B

Iโ€™m really happy and had a wonderful day so far. Finished dinner earlier this evening. Had a big salad with Pineapple Greek yogurt on the side.

I will do some reading before I go to sleep tonight.๐Ÿ‡๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ“”๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŒˆ

Good afternoon Leah, I have almost finished the Assistant by S K Tremayne, this has been absolutely intriguing.

It is about a young lady (Jo) who moves in with her wealthy friend after a divorce. The house is full of Smart Tec - everything being recorded by Electra (just like the Amazon device) behind the scences someone is controlling the tech to make Jo think she in going crazy (which ties in with her Dad going mad and committing Suicide) The pressure from the tech increases, in the end Jo's account is hacked and horrible emails are sent to all her family and friends, she now finds herself very isolated and hated by her friends and is aware that the tech is sending something

I am almost near the end, the culprit is one of her friends who used to stay over with her when they were kids and the motive - Jo's father assulted her and now her friend wants revenge and for Jo to die as well.

Best wishes

Debs

Hi Leah,

Great to see what yourself and others are reading currently. Hope you're still enjoying your current book.

I have just finished an autobiography called 'Clarissa Dickson Wright: Spilling the Beans' and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I will share some of the description on the back of the book, which says "Clarissa has lived her life on a grand scale. Her mother was an Australian heiress, her father a brilliant surgeon. But he was also a tyrannical and violent drunk. Clarissa was determined and clever though and her ambition led her, at the age of 21, to be the youngest woman ever called to the Bar.

Shortly after, disaster struck when her adored mother died suddenly and Clarissa's grief led to a mind-numbing decade of over-indulgence during which she drank and partied away her entire enormous inheritance. It was a long hard road to recovery - and in the end it was cooking that brought her success, as one half of the much-loved TV partnership Two Fat Ladies, as well as sobriety and peace.

Spilling the Beans is Clarissa's extraordinary story of a life lived passionately and resolutely on her own terms."

Having finished that book, I'm now going to look for something else to read - not sure what yet. :-)

Zest :-)

This sounds really good! Glad you enjoyed it.

Iโ€™m really close to the very last few pages of the book. I will read it before I go to my brotherโ€™s house tonight for dinner.๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŒˆ

Last night, I had finished reading The Sea Is My Brother: The Lost Novel before going to bed. Very good, but sad at the end.

Next book: The Chef is going to be started today. More news on it coming soon.๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‡๐Ÿ“–๐ŸŒˆ
