βCold Comfort Farmβ was a really great book and put a lot of my favorite things together in one book. It had a very sweet way of showing how people can change and also meet certain people. It also showed that if you put your mind to doing something, then you can do it. I recommend this to those who enjoy romance and animals/farm life.
Since I had finished βCold Comfort Farmβ, by Stella Gibbons Saturday (7-11-2020) night before heading to bed, I started reading βThe Sea Is My Brother: The Lost Novelβ, by Jack Kerouak.
Right now, I'm on Chapter 2; page 41.
Okay, now to you! What have you been reading recently? Canβt wait to hear all about it.

Ive been reading books that I have already read. At the moment I am reading if nobody speaks of remarkable things by jon mcgregor. I t suits me during the virus because it is the kind of book you can put down and pick up very easily. It is also a very thaughtful book not too much action At the start of lockdown i read labyrinth by Kate Mosse. It was surprising how much i had forgotten, It was like a different book altogether. Although I am looking forward to the library re opening, this has been an interesting reading experience definately.
I am reading the latest book I bought from Tesco, it is from Martina Cole,.not read much. I have read a couple of her books, they are based in and around Romford Essex. That is not far from where I was born. The only thing is if the story is good, why so much swearing, it has put me off buying any more of her books. On the other hand the last book I read was "A single Mum's Wish List" I have finished reading it, not one of the best books I have ever read, but the writer makes you want to find out what happens next.
If you feel like the author uses too much swearing in her books/writing, then you can decide not to finish the book/series. What other authors do you want to read books by?
I'm a mystery book reader addict. Many of the books in this genre I've read have a lot of swearing,. It troubles me most when the Lord's name is used in vain. I salute one author, J A Jance. It's obvious to me that she is a Christian. No swearing! She's written many great tales located either in Bisbee, AZ (her birthplace) or Seattle (where she and her husband now reside).
19. The Bisbee located books are about a young lady (Joanna) who becomes sheriff after her husband is assassinated by a Cartel drug runner. The Seattle series is about Det. Beau Beaumont. I borrow virtually all of my Kindle books via Overdrive.com. Local public libraries I use (Richmond, VA and Houston, TX) both subscribe to Overdrive.)
I buy books on Bookbub.com. At least one daily selection is FREE. Both sites send the selected books out through Amazon.com.
Iβve started to read (again) The Perfume, story of a murderer by Patrick SΓΌskind wich is one of my favourite book.
Itβs the story of Jean-Baptiste Grenouille, from his birth to his death. He was born without any odor but he has the super power to smell every odor from far away. People rejects him because he does not smell like a human being.
Grenouille will grow and start to make a perfume that he can put on himself and that will make everybody love him. Red headed girls are the main ingredient of his perfume!
Itβs well written and itβs a book you can smell through the reading!
Great that you're enjoying the book 'Cold Comfort Farm' - it sounds like a nice book. I hope that you're enjoying the Jack Kerouak book now, and that you're having a nice weekend as well.
I've been to the library this morning to get some new books, and am excited to have chosen the following:
"Weight Training for Women" by Lesley Harrison - because I would like to do some structured exercise involving weights, so thought I'd read about it.
"The Creamery Kitchen" by Jenny Linford - it says on the front - "Discover the age-old tradition of making fresh butters, yoghurts, creams and soft cheeses at home" and that appealed to me!
"Curries and Spicy Dishes for your Slow Cooker" by Kris Dhillon - I was tempted by the front cover showing a gorgeous curry - I love using my slow cooker, so that is a book I'm hoping to find some nice recipes in.
"The Clever Guts Diet" by Dr Michael Mosely - I've borrowed this book before, but wanted to take it out again, so I can enjoy some recipes from it, and re-read parts of it.
"Fat-Burner Foods" by Dr Caroline M. Shreeve" - Looked like an interesting book, so keen to have a look at it as well.
I tend to dip in and out of books, as and when I fancy it, and when I have time - so I'm not sure how much of each book I shall read, but these are a great range to enjoy that process.
Those books you got from the library sound good, Zest . I hope you enjoy the recipes from them. The slow cooker idea sounds great!
Yes, I did enjoy " Cold Comfort Farm". It was really good and it had everything I enjoy in one book. I love horses and other farm animals. I sometimes read romance books and I try to reach a goal that I set for myself all the time.
" The Sea Is My Brother: The Lost Novel" is going well and I have been enjoying it. Right now, I'm on page 78. I'm planning to do more reading later today if there's time and I don't feel so tired (bad night sleep last night).
