Anybody got AUTHENTIC indian curry recipes?

The so called carers for my grandad dish up the same five high salt and sat fats ready meal curries from tesco. :( they actually make an effort to meet the bare minimum. I just hate them being there so much.

So .. rant over I'd like to make granddad some nice things.

Thanks :)

Hi CountryAir15

This is an Indian Curry recipe from the BBC good food website, and looks quite appetising. See what you think:

What type of food does your Grandfather like/able to eat? Is he allergic to anything food related?

He's Indian so he eats indian and no, but real Indian food is a lot different than the Anglo acceptable forms.

Can you mix ghee in with the curry?

Not sure, I just dont like how they feed grandad so systematically there are authentic curries in the world food section, if they mixed it up a bit, it would show some honest care but there's just something so vendor like that they dont think that he would enjoy change, plus he's blind and hard of hearing, so he relies on them like a baby

Can you please go to his place and ask him what he wants?

I hope this helps. Her “made in India” cookbook is really great and some of the recipes are online. I don’t know how to do a link using my phone - sorry!

Maybe an idea would be to get a slow cooker or do what I do.

When in a rush. Put a load of vegetables in a big pan, tip in a load of whatever Indian spices are to hand, add garlic and passatta. Pour in some water and bring to the boil and then simmer. You can add coconut milk or lentils, chickpeas etc. Make a big batch and freeze some and ask the carers each day to take one portion from the freezer ready for the next day. I hope your grandad is okay. I used to work as a private carer. Tarka dhal and saag aloo are also very quick sides and can be made ahead. 🙂
