Ways to measure fats

Measuring fats in our body are important because it will give you an idea of what should be done about excess fats stored in our body if any. Excess fat isn’t good for us, and we should try our best to get rid of it. If you want to measure fats stored in your stomach, there are a number of ways to do it.

Three of the popular ways are posted below.

1. Waist to hip ratio

This is one of the most common options available for us. To get the results using this option, you should first measure your waist’s narrowest part, followed by your hip’s broadest part. These two measurements will help you calculate waist to hip ratio. How? Simply divide the values and you'll get the ratio in no time. Talking about this ratio, you should know that the ratio should be less than 0.8. If not, you can fall prey to a number of diseases easily. So, if the ratio is 0.8 or more, look for ways to pull down the ratio to less than 0.8.

2. Body Mass Index

BMI or body mass index helps in determining whether you are overweight or not. For this, you should weigh yourself on an absolute weighing scale and even measure your health. Your weight should be noted in kilograms and your height in meters. Now, get the ratio. For this, you should divide your weight by the square of your height. If the ratio is in the range of 25 to 29.9, you are overweight. However, if the ratio is more than 30, you are an obese person. Obviously, if you fall in either of the categories, you should work hard to cut down on your fats so that you can stay away from a number of health issues.

3. Waist circumference

This is even an easy way to determine the ratio. For this, you should use a tape and measure your waistline. Breathe normally while taking the measurement. If the size is more than 34 inches, you are at the risk. If you want to stay away from many health issues, you should work on cutting down your size by an inch or two, as soon as possible. It should not be difficult if you are dedicated to achieving your goal at the earliest.

If you know that excess belly fat is accumulated in your stomach, you should look for ways in which you can get rid of the excess belly fat.
