I have set myself a challenge of getting from Dover to Weston-super-Mare on foot but it's not a race. I've divided it up into "day" chunks but I don't walk the route daily. The reason for that is because I'm trying to video my exploits and I'm not that fast at editing!
Anyway, day 2 was Sandling to Ashford. It was perfect weather for a walk. Straight off the train at Sandling then across the car park and I'm straight into historic woodlands. The route takes me past oodles of history, some nearly forgotten to time and being consumed by nature, others that are 1200 years old and still in use today.
It's surprising what you can see on a walk with today's highlight being the various castles and the giraffes at port lymne being let out to graze.
Then there was the walk along the royal military canal which is a really relaxing walk but doesn't really inspire when filmed so I kept that part of the walk for me. It's a really accessible walk for anyone though - flat, straight, a bit of history, a waterway, and maybe some relatively tame sheep to walk through - it's a good little walk for anyone.
