I went along to the duck pond lunch time and my feathered friends were in a small area of the pond that had thawed and when they saw me the clambered onto the ice and ran across to greet me...or eat the wild bird food. But it was so funny as they were slipping and sliding to get to the food but nothing stopped them and then they waddled off.
It's a beautiful day here today bitterly cold but sunny and bright so I went for a walk as I've a lot going on at the moment so it was nice to get out doors. I also feel that our wildlife deserves a helping hand and I feed the birds in my garden and put water out for them.
And stay safe and warm during the cold spell...βοΈ
Haha I can just imagine it. It must be very cold where you are. They do need a helping hand at this time of year donβt they. Canβt be easy for them. The colours on the mallards heads are really showing up in the sunlight. Lovely photo so thanks for posting it Jerry.
Beautfiul photo Jerry, and how lovely to take a walk and feed the ducks to get away from it all. They certainly do need a helping handing. Thats an excellent photo Jerry, keep up the fantastic work π
Thanks Debs, I think it was more luck and the ice reflecting the sunlight helped.
The ducks all seemed happy and there are some moorhens who live here but they are shyer and I love how they sprint across the ice and then take off. π
Lovely photo. I too feed and water the many birds in my garden. Also leave out homeopathic medicine for the foxes with mange. We are so lucky to have wild life
Oh Wow thatβs interesting. Is the medicine something you buy or have you put a recipe together yourself? Ali
Hey thanks, And good for you for feeding the birds and treating the foxes.
I get wild boars come out of the forest at night and they dig the ground up foraging, when I first moved here they literally smashed their way into the green house to check out what was in there, the blighters LOL...but I agree 100% we are so lucky to have wildlife. π
I love this photo so much! The reflections of the ducks in the ice, and how they are making their way carefully along it. A fabulous photo, and I'm glad you're feeding them, as I am sure they appreciate it.
