Hi everyone,
Ever since I moved to the forest Iโve been fascinated by the wildlife and the boar in particular as they are so elusive.
Last year they were culling the boar so being intelligent a male boar took sanctuary on the edge of town as he knew he wouldnโt be hunted this close to town. I kept having glimpses of him and then this Spring he formed a sounder with 3 females and they had 9 babies humbugs and I kept meeting them at first it was really exciting but they became so familiar with the locals that they would hang around the footpaths. I had to remove their images from social media as they were getting unwanted attention at night. So now theyโve moved deeper into the forest Iโm happy to share some of the images that I took of them.
Hereโs a link about boars in the Wye valley please see: visitdeanwye.co.uk/explore/...
I was on the footpath and as I stopped to photograph them one of the mums and the dad came out of the undergrowth and you can see how powerful the male is with his tusks with the ability to sprint to 30 mph weighing in at 500lbs+ makes him formidable so I didnโt want to upset them as itโs quite intimidating the way they watch you and their posture. I had to stop as there were babies humbugs crossing the path abs these were poised on the bank above me.
Iโm going to post a few more of my best photos as I doubt that Iโll get the chance again as I was meeting them 2 or 3 times every day.
I hope that you enjoys the photos. ๐
