Not sure but medication should help
I've heard of this but I understand its a serious op. You need to seek an opinion from your GP and then ask for a referral.
I wasn't epileptic but after my TBI in 1967 I was diagnosed as such and told not to drive.
I was on medication which I stopped taking around 1969 and as far as I know I've never fitted [I do have the odd vacant moment though]. I certainly wouldn't seek an op to sort it.
I still don't drive.
Good luck with what you do.

When my husband was in hospital with a brain injury there was a guy also in intensive care who had elective surgery for this i did hear that its not also definate to work and is a serious operation he took a long time to recover but to him it was obviously better then the amount of seizures do see a professional about this for advice.
Hi deedex,
Thank you for your post.
There are a number of potential treatments for this, but whether or not they would be suitable is quite an individual thing. Have you seen a specialist neurologist about your situation?
After thorough assessment, they should be able to explain the options that would best suit you.
As others have posted there are sometimes some quite serious treatments that could be considered, along with various drugs etc to try to get things under control.
It might be worth you calling our helpline to speak to one of our nurses about the options, and any other support needs.
Best wishes,
Headway.

Hi deedeex. I had to try several medications before I found one which worked for me. I was getting deja vu all day long - it was as though as was living the same few days over and over again, in a world of only 100 people. I was also getting auras and alterations in visual and aural perspective. This was making me feel very vulnerable whenever I left the house. The threat of me having a grand mal seizure (both real and imagined - which add up to one and the same) was brought closer by my underlying anxiety over the condition. Ask whoever is dealing with your medication if either the dose or the drug itself can be reassessed. I had to be a pain in the backside to a few medical professionals before being put on the correct meds. Another avenue you may well find useful is that of peer support, a group like Epilepsy Action may well have meetings in your area.
