pension appeal success

the last time I was posting I was horrified to have been only granted a basic pension as the report was done by someone who didn’t want to commit and had suggested that I might recover enough to work a 40 hour working week in the future.

good news from my appeal means that then next doctor to look at my evidence stated that the original evidence supplied was sufficient to grant the full uplifted permanent illness retirement! Consequently I spent months getting reports and stressing but as it happens this has gone through swiftly and will be back dated!

The doctor clearly stated that post concussion syndrome was permanent and a full time job of any kind was not possible.

this means a 30% uplift in my pension and the difference between managing and not. That was a happy Christmas!

I wish the best for all of you on here struggling to have help and understanding. I feel very fortunate.

That is great news! It sure does help to get that little bit extra.

That's terrific news, WW, it's very uplifting to hear something has gone right for someone...

And, actually I found it validating... I sometimes do wonder if I push myself hard enough (as we all do) and having PCS as a diagnosis myself it helps me remember there is no 'pushing through'.

(That doesn't mean you can't/won't make progress - because I have a lot - and I know there is no way I could hold down a job at all. I just don't have the stamina/long enough periods of consistent freedom from symptoms. )

I am pleased to read a success story. I have asked twice for a mandatory reassessment as the figures don't add up leaving me over £1000 pa short. Despite acknowledging my brain injury and the way it affects me, the DWP has done nothing, not even a letter. So, well done you!

thanks. I realise how lucky I am and I always appreciate any positive outcomes. I see on a daily basis on here how so many of us are left in a quagmire of uncertainty and frustration.

It’s always worth plugging away as the right outcome will sometimes not be obvious and can take years.

I really hope you get some better news next year

Congratulations! I had a similar experience with my ill health retirement pension from the multinational finance company that I had worked for since graduation.

I was awarded an amount that included an uplift due to the challenges of gaining meaningful employment and meant the difference between paying the bills comfortably or the alternative

that is good to hear. I was public sector and wasn’t sure that private companies would do that. You must be relieved too.

At least some of us on here have some positive things occasionally !

That’s really great news. 👍 👍😀😀😀

I’ve got cognitive tests on 8 January and I’m hoping I’ll be able to get a better reward afterwards. Atm I’m on ESA s even though my memory is such that I’ve literally walked in front of cars (when alone) because I’ve forgot I’d seen them.

Happy new year WonderingWonda ☺️☺️☺️☺️

good luck with your assessments. Remember (lol) to take a list with you of all your issues. It’s so easy to miss out stuff and even say you are fine with things that are not the case!
