yyes it's a good idea, I'll try it on the 30th. It's good to chat about the head injury experience.

The link appears to work, BLKI have to check the time zone, I have no idea what how that translates to where I am in Canada.

Nice thing to give a try,

Hope it goes well, I will try to be there...

I personally have no objection but can one of the mods comment as guidelines do say about confidentiality and all that stuff and this will impact on that.

Having done Zooms for other organisations that have members as far apart as NZ and the US, I will say the tine zones can play havoc and someone will be up early and others very late. On an iPhone check out the world clock app to see how others may be fixed at 12:00pm Auckland, Wellington NZ time.

Thanks. Yes will check clocks out. Do you know if I need to add peoples emails for them to be able to come in? Or can they just click the link and get in? Sorry first time setting one up have only been part of them not one setting up. Thanks

With the Zooms I have done, invites to attend are usually sent by emails to individuals but as the Zoom login is on here, people can click on that and they enter the waiting room . The ‘host’ (you) then usually can admit them into the main meeting. Individuals can choose to be seen live or not and can if necessary mute their microphone if they need to.

Meetings can be recorded by the host which might be something to discuss with the Headway moderators beforehand.

If you have attended other zooms you will presumably know about the protocols such as raising a hand to speak.

At the end or at any time during the Zoom individuals can leave the “room” or at the end the host can end and close the meeting. Zoom meetings for up to forty minutes are free but for longer you need a subscription. I think longer than forty minutes will see peoples attention span wane or they may need to leave the room.

Advice to attendees is to ensure there are no background interuptions and that the room where the individual attendee is, is quiet with no distractions or rustling papers or crisp wrappers.

Having a drink such as a cup of tea to hand often helps but care must be taken not to knock it over the computer!

Downloading the Zoom app can assist and ensure attendees get the best possible experience.

Backgrounds can be added or the room behind the attendee blurred for privacy.

Some attendees may join from their smart phones which is also feasible.

I am concious that when I was in hospital I couldnt even use a phone so some attendees may need assistance from family or a carer too.

Obviously we need to be as inclusive as possible and create a level playing field for all those who wish to attend. Not all issues for individuals are necessarily obvious and so abilities will vary.

Any other questions and I will try to answer them but its generally simple to attend and apart from an internet connection and reasonable connection if using a phone, it should be plain sailing.

You have told people what time zone you are in, so those on the other side of the world can plan accordingly. For clarity 12:00pm presumably is mid-day in Auckland and with you being twelve hours ahead of the UK, I reckon that puts us at midnight on Sunday 29th in the UK unless I have calculated that wrongly!

Best of luck with moving us into the twenty first century! 👍

Awesome yes I’m thinking 30-40 mins should be sufficient I personally couldn’t do more than that anyway. Ok might look at changing time to 9am my time so 9 pm UK - will post up on Saturday with some basic protocols and perhaps some introducing questions to get us started 😀 thanks again

Will try remember to put a reminder up on here - could possibly change time of it doesn’t suit too - what country are you in?

I'm in Wales (UK). I should be OK with the time but others here may differ. I thinks it's about 1am GMT but others should check as I'm prone to making mistakes.

Seamus1967 thanks for reminding me.

Obviously at present we are still in British Summer Time, (BST) but the clocks will change at 02:00am on Sunday 29th October and go back an hour to 01:00am and revert to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) for the winter period.

So our Zoom on Monday will observe GMT here in the UK meaning 23:00 hrs will be the Zoom time?

Debbie

Also see my comment to Seamus1967 as that is the weekend we put clocks back an hour here in the UK for winter.
