Does anyone have extreme dizziness when in the car or somewhere busy? I saw something about visual vertigo but I have idea how to reduce it.

Hi, I had BPPV after my accident for a couple of months. It included me looking one way, mostly to left where my head injury had happened, where my eyes wouldn't be able to stop " dancing" until they got to focus on what I was looking for. I went to ENT and physio and it was help from both of them that cured it to disappear. I got the Epley Manoeuvre done on both sides. It did make me feel a bit sick first time but using some tabs from docs and then one more attempt at the Manoeuvre helped me million times better. I then got some exercises from ENT to help with my eyes stopping " dancing" and slightly moving. They cured me within at least 4/5 weeks and I have no tabs for it and have been discharged from ENT and physio and have had no more episodes of dizziness. That was 4 months ago. I don't know if that would help you at all but maybe a try might help you. Just a thought really and sorry if its wrong. Good luck.🙂

Hi, yes it gets very fizzy. I have started doing eye movement exercises I got if the Internet and what a difference they have made. The same if you go on a train, anything where things are moving fast or your eyes have too much to focus on, even supermarket shelves.

In order to help for eye exercises, keep going to busy places preferable the same place and you will get dizzy, but try to calm the eyes and head by looking at one thing then build on it. Do this everyday and by the end if the week it should so much better. It us scary as I was falling over. This rehab fir balance and it foes work.

Move your eyes up and down counts as one fo this 3 times then move left to right and three times, then move your eyes in a figure of 8 3 times then hold your finger in front of you to focus on and move it as far away as possible and to your face 3 times and then left to right 3 times keeping your head still. Then move your head left to right and up and down but keep yours fixed on your finger and don't move it. Practices this 3 times a day as well as looking at moving objects like traffic or tele. It us scary at first but don't be frightened as nothing can happen while you are sat on you chair in your house, safe place. If too much take it easy and improve it fies work as I got my vision back. I then stopped doing it too quickly and vision now going back as staying in house.

Goodluck

I was suffering with what was diagnosed as BPV Benign Positional Vertigo, following 4 months spent working in Sri Lanka. I’m not sure if this was a coincidence but it was also felt that it was in Sri Lanka that I had contracted TB meningitis.

After GPs prescribed ineffective vertigo medication a lovin suggested an ENT consultant who diagnosed me immediately. After a few Epley Manoeuvres it improved considerably. Having said that I can still suffer small relapses every now and again but normally following a night out and a few too many drinks!
