Quick question
Hi, I haven't had a general anaesthetic the same as you have, which I'm sorry to hear about. I had a TBI 5 months ago and after my operation and being in a coma for 2 weeks. I had dizziness and was diagnosed with BPPV. I went to ENT to see if they could help and I had the Epley Maneuver, I had the exercise done 3 times in total and it cured my severe dizziness. I felt so sick with it also and lying down I felt like I was going to faint as the room was spinning badly, my eyes where "dancing" all over the place. I was on Cinnarizine too to help the dizziness and sickness and I have been off it for around 2.5 months. I struggled to start with with the Epley but after the second one I was cured. The only other similarity I have is having cold hands at times that soon become warm and stay warm after using a hot water bottle with them rested on for a little bit. The doctors said it was my brains recovery not sure in how to heat me or my hands up when cold but they know how to cool me down when I am feeling too hot. I know this won't help you properly but fingers crossed you get some help to help your dizziness and temperature be OK again. 👍
Yes Teazy, I've had an overheating issue (Hyperhidrosis) since my brain injury in 2012. I previously loved the hot sunshine but have now dread the hot weather (I alternate between the shower and a pedestal fan in Summer !)
An endocrinologist told me it isn't uncommon after brain injury and that HRT would fix the problem overnight, but he couldn't recommend it for me owing to past breast cancer ; I'd certainly have opted for it otherwise.
Hope you find help m'love ; overheating can be a menace all year round. 😟x
thank cat .. I thought it had gotten better in the last 12 months just seems to have all gone a bit strange after the general anaesthetic last week .. not so good on hrt either will hay keep plodding alone .. sue x
Have you seen an ENT therapist for the dizziness Teazy ? As Sshh mentioned, the Epley maneuver (or as in my case the Brandt Daroff exercises) can be very effective.
Or as a short cut you could ask your GP for Prochlorperazine (Stemetil) tablets. x
yeah I’ve had the Epley done twice by my GP and it worked .. it’s just started again after the operation on my shoulder last week I gave up waiting to see ENT as they were waiting to here back for neurology before they would see me .. got to laugh really as I had a call about 6 weeks ago from neurologist apologising for the 2 year delay on the ENT referral and we’re checking in weather it was ok to have an Epley done … my GP would do it Infact two of them did it as I was in such a bad way with eyes rolling in my head … it all a joke the whole system
Anyway yes is have had epley and it worked well . If it carries on getting worse I will have it done again .. sue x
Yes Sue, the NHS is beyond crisis. I'm still waiting for a neurology appointment cancelled at the start of Covid...🙄
Keep on plodding, and stay in touch m'love... x
yes beyond crisis !! I’ve just paid for my last operation from the accident as I had multiple injuries alone with the TBI which was 2 years November gone as I was going on a waiting list of between 1 and 2 years .. I am desperately trying to get a life and couldn’t wait any longer as it’s up to a year recovery now .. yes we will keep plodding and will definitely keep in touch .. sue x
