Maybe give your ns nurse a call to be on the safe side! I had to wait three months after my op to remove a tumour! Best wishes. xx

Hi Ansell

I think the best advice is to ask the neurologist or specialist to put it in writing .

They are probably in the best position to make a non emotional estimate of both your ability to travel and how it is likely to impact you.

I guess it depends on the cause and thus any remaining risks.

Plus health insurance and so on.

The first holiday can be a bit of a shock with all the new stuff for ones poor broken brain to process plus flying/sailing and organising and so on.

Ask your neurological specialist. I was safe to fly within weeks of my cvst....but didnt feei like it until 6months on.

No stopping me since tho....

Boots travel insurance were the only ones who would cover me ...

I don't think there is any 'allowed', it will depend on you, your injury, where you are going, etc.

I have travelled a lot (including 5 months in Australia, diving in Thailand, diving in Lanzarote...), but of course, I am luckily well enough to do those things. It will really depend on how bad your problem still is. Everyone else is right - speak to your neuro person.

I agree with the posts above. The only way to be sure is to check with a specialist. And make sure you have adequate medical insurance, including repatriation to your own country if necessary.

I hope your insurance cover is cheaper than mine usually. When I saw how much more I had to pay for my arthritic hip the memory problem from my TBI conveniently made me forget about out my epilepsy.

I view insurance as a necessary evil; the buggers take all they can but when you want a payout they don't want to know.

Ansell just realised from your latest post that you are probably asking about your dad.

If that is the case I suspect that the answer will be no because he is still in hospital.
