First time writing. I was assaulted, kicked in the head by a patient July this year as a result suffered a tbi. Suffering with lots of symptoms including anxiety. Tried to get support from victim support wondered if there was anyone out there who has suffered as a result of an assault and if so how did you cope?
Thanks x

Hi Nimby, to be assaulted at work is difficult. I was a violence reduction specialist before my brain hiccup, and unfortunately the nature of my job often involved conflict, sadly, more physical than I would have liked, hence my specialty. I was making headway into changing the incidence of aggression in the Trust I worked, when I had to retire.
If you still have contact with the rehab team, then get a referral to the neuro-psychologist, if not, then ask your GP to refer you. You may benefit from imput from a neuro-psychiatrist. I don't suggest these because I think you are mad. You are far from being mad. I suggest these because they can help you from a brain injury view point.
I'm not going to give you the namby pamby stuff around looking after yourself. But you should reach out for support, as you have by posting here. I thought I could handle myself, understood MH, and trauma, etc, but I struggled on until I crash landed, and it was a long road back. From experience, better to grab all the support available, even if you can't see how it will help. We are sometimes our own worst enemies at accepting help, but we are great at giving advice to get support. Take care, keep in contact 🍀
