Always Freezing.: Hello,I am a female of 54 years.I... - Headway
Always Freezing.
Hi, I had a subarachnoid brain hameorage in 2016, I still suffer with memory issues mainly.
Welcome Minx. I had a brain bleed 9 years ago and also have memory issues. Poor memory seems to be the commonest long term effect. You can buy heated insoles for around £10 (5 pairs) or heated socks for £20, but talk with your GP in case you have an underlying condition which can be corrected.
You're doing ok with spelling m'love ! Hope to see you around... Cat x
Hello,Many thanks for replying to me.Where do you buy the heated things for your shoes ? i have only size 2 feet so i hope this wont be a prob.

I can't get the link to work m'love but if you Google :-
Primroseprimrose.co.uk heated insoles -
you'll find heated insoles which can be cut to size. Unfortunately the socks all seem to be one size (suitable for 5 - 9). The insoles are much less expensive than the socks (£7.99). Hope this helps.
But please talk with your GP when you can as there might be a medical solution... x
I did have a look but i only found heated pads. They are no good for me because it's just my toes that are freezing.
I'm sorry but the battery heated socks don't come in such small sizes. I still think you need to speak with your GP about the underlying cause ; there might be something they can recommend over the telephone.
I do think the insoles, cut down to size, would warm the underneath of your toes and feet in general, especially in closed in boots or shoes. Sorry I can't be of help m'dear. x
Many thanks for trying to help. It's a long time since i told anyone about my issues so im not used to people trying to help.
You're most welcome m'dear. I still think the insoles would worth trying as heat would filter up through your toes.
But as cold extremities can be symptoms of other conditions which can be treated, I really would recommend that you phone 111 to explain your GP's disinterest and to ask to speak with one of their doctors. x
Hi, it is amazing the the global effect a brain injury can have. I think we all have deficits between the former us and the now. Re the cold toes, it is worth see your GP to see if there is a reason for this. I won't go into causes as there are numerous.
I will go n have a look at that web page.I carn't get to the Dr's at the mo cos of all this Virus stuff.I feel like the hospital have washed their hands of me.
Hi Rockabilly, are you UK based? If so it will be worth ringing your doctor ( and probably if you are elsewhere too) as Cat says they are doing telephone appointments - and I was fine in A&E last weekend. If anything, things are easier and quieter at the moment because they're all doing so much telephone triage, and keeping the waiting rooms emptier. Definitely get a doctor's opinion though, as PairofBoots says they are aware of a much wider range of issues than us - I nearly didn't ring 111 last week, and it was obvs that the medics were thinking about avd checking for a lot more than my little finger!
( My memory and working memory aren't great either, and my spelling took a distinct dive after my TBI, it's improved, but I'm still occasionally doing weird spellings)

Im in a small vilage in Derbyshire. My GP aint up to much,he says it's not a prob that i dont have any taste or smell.I try to stay away from him.
Oh dear, how upsetting for you. But is probably worth asking for a checkup because you have cold extremities though? X
I will get in touch with him on a good day when im feeling brave enough.
That would be good I think Rockabillyminx. Do you think it might be easier for you in these phonecall appointment where you get to stay in your own environment anyway?
What about ringjng 111 as Cat suggests first, if you don't want to ring your GP this week? I 'm feeling worried about these cold toes of yours. I know the 111 questions seem odd, but they have to rule out lots of things, as they can't see you in person. They are very good usually, particularly on the second callback.
You might want to explain to them about the brain injury, and ask them to go more slowly. I do that a lot.
Be brave Rockabilly, we're rooting you! 😊👍🌸
