It isn't an instant solution, but you could apply for a Headway brain injury I.D. card. The card gives a brief explanation of your main difficulties and can be used in lots of different situations. I take mine everywhere with me and it has been invaluable to me. The details are on the main Headway website. 🙂🌸
Hi Plenty. Your GP should be able to provide written proof of your incapacities from personal experience and with your hospital files. Aftercare, and even scheduled treatment, has mostly been sidelined this year but you could have a word with the Headway team on 0808 800 2244 for extra guidance & support.
It's hard for everyone at present ..........but especially those like yourself with children to consider. Good luck m'dear.. x
Hi morning Have you looked at the sunflower hidden disabilities website? They offer all sorts of products you can wear to subtly inform those around you that you have a disability that might not be obvious such as a TBI.
My sons mum who has a TBI wears the card and lanyard when out shopping etc and it informs others non verbally that you might need a little help, patience or assistance etc.
I don't like being the bearer of bad news. There is a difference between being vulnerable and being clinically vulnerable, in the latter, there is a legal requirement for the clinically vulnerable to shield. If you are clinically vulnerable you should receive a letter from your GP, this should arrive in the next few days, and will give more information of services you can access. If so then it wouldn't be inadvisable for your children to attend school. gov.uk should have information regarding the clinically vulnerable.
Sorry I realised I had a typo that changed the meaning of what I said.
HiI have the Headway Brain card and a sunflower lanyard which supermarkets give for free and this has been really helpful. In terms of shielding, my understanding is this is advice not law. But we may find out more later today as parliament is debating this lockdown.
In the short term just create a little card to show people, I used to carry my GP letter around befor I got the other things. Take care and stay safe x
