Is there any advantage to using protein powder supplement after a brain injuries?

I don't have any specific knowledge on this, but after my brain injury I had cravings for oily fish and that provides good protein and Omega 3.

I gave recently starred using a blue light therapy lamp and it is helping in several ways.

I take omega 3 and multi vitamin tablets each day.

Even in hospital I was eating everything in sight and now still get really hungry.

I think it affects both fatigue and mood.

But wanting to fuel myself in a healthy way. and gain strength lost with my other injuries.

There are a few articles on the web that will come up if you search your post title. Diet has to be individualised to be cost effective and gain the most. Diet changes are useful in response to the brain injury healing. There are 11 body systems which can all malfunction either in part or in whole. Some malfunctions will occur together - therefore fix one and several will be fixed. Some act alone, fix one - one fixed. With a BI, deal with one thing at a time. BI leaves body delicately balanced so small steps are key.

Using a systemised approach to your body, list the 11 body systems (Wikipedia "List of systems of the human body) and next to each list the issues that you experience right now. (This will change if you are in recovery so its useful to do this exercise each month for your own self awareness and healing). Once you have a full picture, it is clearer to see which systems can be targeted with food and supplements.

As a background of therapist, I have helped many people fix physical issues via massage and diet. Things like regular cramps, period pain, mood swings, depression, arthritis, circulation, loss of smell, intimacy issues, fibroids, weight loss, bladder issues, alcoholic, cancer, and more. So when you ask if there is advantage to taking protein powder my answer is, it depends on you, which systems have issues, which proteins you have selected, how often you will take them, how you take them. Many people throw supplements at an issue. Doing a dietary intervention is useful if it is done for a period of weeks, 4 weeks, and then reassess, was it useful, do I need more, less, or something else. Knowing which supplements go with which foods and in what quantity, at what time of the day are key to getting your moneys worth and not overdoing it (flooding the detox body systems). If we consume things which are new to the body, there is also an adjustment period, a normalising period and used long term, efficacy can tail off.

You can just get nutrient supplement, if you felt you wasnt having a balanced diet. Its something i have steered away with husband, i just ensure he has good homemade diet because there is research of having too much vitamins, oils can have opposite affect. When i first started posting to help on fatigue on here, someone mentioned creatine small amount for energy, but this would have to be monitored and again doesnt work for everyone, ive not tried with husband.

Snacks like homemade flapjacks, which you can add little protein, and add nuts, fruit. I just make a batch of normal flapjacks or variety of sponge cakes.

Maybe introducing new foods to your diet rather than supplement fluid, as food be long term benefit and therapeutic to make and reduce costs.
