PIP, OR Personal Independent Payments, are a state benefit that offers support for those who struggle with certain debilitating conditions. In recent months, PIP assessment rules have had to be adapted as coronavirus swept the UK and recently, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) addressed how assessments will be managed going forward.

I understand the benefits as I am in receipt of PIP. It was the changes that worried me. I know they have been doing telephone assessment's, so not sure how these work, not that I have heard anything positive. I was wondering if you knew what the changes were?

No was originally on DLA when I was 13, got put onto ESA when I was 16 and started college when I left college age 21 (I think) I went on JSA for 2 years and when I was 23 I left the system completely as I got a full time job which I'm still in now but recently when I went off sick I tried to apply for UC but got rejected as I was still getting sick pay despite it being reduced every month and I had to take out mates rates loans to pay bills then I got advised to try PIP and I am ago going though that headache while in lockdown Because it took them 8 months to get back in touch with me and start the assessment and I was back in work working virtually so yeah more stress I don't need but I should get something as my TBI is still there my brain hasn't magically healed and I told them that in a polite way and how the stress made me think several times about sucide but because I was far too calm they didn't believe me over the phone so in my 3rd request for appeal I showed them how stress impacts me by swearing and now I am waiting on their reply while my MP chases them on my behalf pffffft

Sorry to hear that. I was on DLA indefinitely, then I had to change to PIP, originally they knocked me down, so I went through their game of appeals, just before it went to tribunal, they phoned to say they had made a mistake. I think they knock people back hoping they will just drop the claim. Keep on fighting bex. It is stressful but well worth the hassle. Good luck.

I completed my husbands PIP in June 2020 following advice from Scope, and luckily advice on this forum. Heard sad/horror situations causing extra anxiousness, but they contacted professionals in a week and acted very rapidily it was all completed within 2.5/3weeks.

This may be rare, but they did not cause me any unwanted emotions.
