Help Please, head impact with whiplash followed by car accident with whiplash

Hi everyone,

in August 2018 i suffered a very significant head impact playing 5 side football, surprised i wasnt knocked out, it was sickening, knocked my head right back and me off my feet, i got back up straight away and felt reasonably ok, there was only 5 minutes left so i went in goal, walked to my car and drove 20 minutes home, everything seemed ok, went to bed and woke up with tinnitus (never, ever had that before) i also felt "woozy", and i had significant whiplash, i went to A@E to get checked for concussion, they thought i was "ok" and to monitor things.

10 weeks later i suffered a stroke, the Neuro said he could not rule out the impact, i think it a little coincidental! fortunately touch wood i recovered fairly swiftly.

In Jan 2019 i was involved in a bad car accident, wrote car off, suffered whiplash again, i was black and blue from the seat belts, nasty shock indeed.

In June 2019 i started to develop arm tremors followed by leg tremors and leg weakness, muscle twitching, palpitations, blurred vision, weird floaters in one eye and Alarming head hair shedding.

I have seen 2 neurologists who both rule out any functional issues.

Over the period since the initial head impact at footy until now i go through periods of maybe a few days where the "woozyness"returns, not quite dizzy but not right at all, slightly spaced out. The tinnitus has remained.

as the months have rolled by i have also developed eyebrow shedding, the hair under my arms, pubic area, chest, tummy, arms and legs is not as thick as usual and the re growth of all those areas is nowhere near where it used to be, and in the last 4 weeks or so my beard growth has slowed dramatically.

I am on Thyroxine, 150mcg a day, have been for 20 years, no issues whatsoever before the incidents.

has anyone had any experience or know of anyone where similar things have happened regarding what i have described after head impact or whiplash, i am wondering if i have injured or affected my pituitary or thyroid during the impact or whiplash. My thyroid blood results are as they usually are and stable.

Any comments or advice would be very welcome and appreciated.

Thanks very much.

Steve.

Forgot to mention, the arm and leg tremors and leg weakness, blurred vision, palpitations, still remain but its transitory, sometimes worse than others, and my resting heart rate has climbed and remains faster than it used to be..

Thanks.

Sorry everyone, i posted this on the Headway Website and it appears to have popped up on thyroid, Damn, someone suggested putting it on there to see if anyone with whiplash and head impacts might have experienced something similar.

So sorry that's repeated my story on here folks, please forgive.

Am i a numpty or what!

These are quite complex symptoms Steve and you've obviously been assessed by various physicians with no definitive answers.

The loss of body hair certainly suggests a hormonal issue but the tinnitus isn't exclusive to brain injury (I've had continuous tinnitus for 40 years..... long before my brain injury) although yours does coincide with the head trauma.

I suggest you phone the Headway helpline for further advice ; the no is freephone - 0808 800 2244 - office hours.

Good luck in finding answers.... Cat 🤔
