Complications after cranioplasty.

Nearly six months after my operation and I still have CSF leaking into my scalp (sub galeal swelling). Wearing compression bandages and sleeping with head raised. Anyone else suffered this complication or had to have shunt operation to resolve similar issue?

Feeling a bit depressed as thought it was all over but doesn’t seem to be resolving itself quickly and not sure how long I should wait before considering shunt.

I had CSF leaking as well. I’ve had 3 shunts in 2 years, which translates to 5 craniotomies (3 within 90 days). My swelling went down after my shunt was placed (August ‘19).

I continue to have terrible headaches that worsen when the weather changes. I actually reached out to our local meteorologist and he informed me that the barometric pressure changes can effect people with brain injuries.

(I have a large cyst on my brain)

Thanks for getting in touch. Why did you have to have three shunt operations?
