About 3/4 days ago, so last Thursday 5/9 I saw a reply to a post which talked about how they had to teach themselves on balance, so like when it came to stairs they would use the handrails but over time they would would walk down the centre to show themselves how far they had come, put underwear on but not holding onto anything etc through what I remember I’m guessing it was home rehab. Though I honestly can’t remember. I liked it. So much as I could relate to it. I’m a little concerned as I have searched over the weekend for it but can’t find it. Im thinking have I imagined it? It’s strange as once I saw it I instantly went and told my mum of the post. She remembers the conversation so that part wasn’t imagined. Can anyone remember this post or if the actual post holder reads my post get in touch as I was really interested in what was mentioned. Though it is scarily to similar which makes me feel I have imagined this, down to wanting to hear a similar experience etc
Many thanks

Sorry Jo I can't find it either. I had a trawl through posts which seemed likely but no joy. Pity, because it's my main issue these days ; walking outdoors can be a nightmare as I'm likely to veer off course and collide with other pedestrians as though I'm drugged or drunk !
And the dressing is pretty awkward too. Even changing shoes without something to hang onto is difficult, and tending/weeding my high garden rockery is becoming increasingly hazardous.... But the worst is definitely stairs/steps as the post BI imbalance combines with my long standing vertigo ----- scary (& embarrassing at times).
Hope the author of the reply sees your post and gets in touch !
Thanks for your reply Cat. I’m thinking my brain made it up in hope there were others alike. Not that it’s pleasant and I would wish it on others. My balance is very slowly showing improvements but it is super slow and involves repetitive tasks. I’m still not independent but I do believe it will come. X
Oh how I can identify with your post and Cat's. I too suffer with my balance and it seems to be getting worse as I get older (or maybe I'm just more aware). As a child I was rubbish at roller-skating, riding a bike or similar. As an adult I hate heights and anything that makes me feel unsafe like climbing a small ladder or standing on a footstool. I can't walk in a straight line (though it looks straight to me), was once accused of being drunk by another mother when picking up my daughter from a club, struggle with dressing too and if I turn quickly I get dizzy and fall. I have thought of 'testing' myself in the past but it always seemed a little pointless to be honest as I have always been like this. I would really love it if there were something that could help though and would also be interested in the post you mention. .
Hi, I’m thinking my brain made it up sadly as I definitely cannot find it. My balance before my bleed was really good so I’m hoping this goes in my favour for regaining. I’m keeping positive with it improving with time, though is very frustrating and disheartening with the speed to which it’s happening. Fingers crossed 🤞 thank you for your reply X
Have to concentrate at time at work because others will think I'm intoxicated... Had afew years of loosing balance in shower of All places. Former partner wld hold me.
Before I started vestibular therapy I couldn't turn my head without getting dizzy, nauseous and wobbly. It's a whole load of head turning but it works. I'm having most problems with visual processing and other peoples movement which makes me go wonky. I pay privately for mine as my brain injury care in Northern Ireland has been non existent. Might be worth looking into if you haven't already.
Cornish Waves you’ve done a great service either way as I’m a newbie so your post was something I totally associate with. I still sit down to put socks on but I can slide my trainers on without fear of falling now and also play the “how far can I make it up the stairs without reassuring myself with the bannister” game. Looking back at how far I’ve come is alson incredible as initial rehab was just to walk again in a straight line!
Hi - Get yourself a balance board ( ball with a ledge around it to stand on)- IF your BI could cope, as it’s great for building up balance if you’re able. My hubby started by holding onto me, then by touching a wall , now he can do it alone 👍🏼
