At long long last. Letter received from PIP and my husband has been awarded enhances rate for Living and lower rate for mobility. Got backdated money from November so really happy. Happy at last my husband has been given the award he deserves. As they say if at first you don’t succeed try try again!

Only taken 9 years to get it but hey got it now and all the stress has been lifted now 👌🏻🙏

So happy for you and Mark Tia ! What a disgraceful system it is to have turned its back on genuinely needy folk for all those years. But hopefully this should galvanize others to keep on trying despite rejections. Well done m'dear for your persistence and stoicism.....

I don't know how you have managed to fight for so long, the stress is killing me only been at it for 4 months and wish I had not bothered as the stress is destroying me.

Hi there

Don’t give up it is very stressful I know and not s nice process to go through let’s hope the changes come in soon where your GP who knows you and how brain injury affects you will be doing this job!

Too many people give up I know I was close to it twice had to go to appeal and lost😡 third time lucky in our case.

My husband would have given up long time ago but I couldn’t let it.

Good luck I hope you get what you deserve.

Disgusting, DWP don't mind giving our medical information to capita or Atos ( now changed name to independent assessment services) but won't contact my specialist or gp ie the people qualified to assess us. How do I prove I have mental issues?

This really angers me. Ask your doctor/specialist to write a report regarding your mental health issues and how this affects your daily life.

My husband had 1 assessments in same week one for PIP and other for ESA.

Dr at assessment for ESA put him in support group and he doesn’t have to attend work related activities. So to be placed in that category you have to score more than 15 points but PIP scored him 0 🤷‍♀️

I went crazy called them up asked why an Occupationl Therapist scores him 0 then a doctor scored him over 15 put mandatory reconsideration in with all my points for each category they scored 0 for 19 weeks later they score him 25

What the heck eh? Shows you how messed up it is

Again, in any other job getting it so wrong would lead to dismissal

Keep going! Eventually you will go to tribunal and 70% of decisions are overturned! You WILL succeed!

in reply toshaunmcg

If 70percent are overturned then the department is not fit for purpose getting it wrong that often is a disgrace.

a disgrace indeed! criminal?

in reply toshaunmcg

If 70 percent of decisions I made whilst working were overturned I would have been sacked.

well done! got to keep fighting the lying bastards! It took me a few years......

They have made their mind up before you even step in the room and hope you don’t challenge it and sadly some don’t and that is what they want 😡 the lies that they type on report - beggars belief. She had listen to nothing I said or his Occupationl Therapist said he could touch his toes no problem he didn’t do that at assessment. He could crouch on the floor and get up no problem lie didn’t do that either and couldn’t anyway. He also was lying down and could raise his legs nope he didn’t could go on just blatant lies 🤥

I know! They lied about me and said I could stand on one leg (I couldn't but she made me try and i fell over!) bad people!

I am so pleased for you, it is such a relief.

We just received the letter today that my husband has also been awarded and back dated. It has been 8 hard months, took 4 weeks to fill out the form and has been a nightmare, my husband just said to leave it but so glad I didn’t.

He has just screamed, shouted and sworn at me, no comprehension or thought. No money is worth this nightmare we are living day in day out, me and my children just want our old life back and I want my best friend and the children want their daddy back.

I’m glad you have eventually got the award it’s a nightmare eh!

I know what you are going through my children where both young when my husband had his TBI 6 and 9 they had to adjust to having a new dad who had totally changed personality wise. So hard for an adult to go through never mind a child.

Would absolutely swap the pip award to having my old husband/dad back but that’s not going to happen. Very hard to accept but harder for them my husband just wants to be doing what he loved doing being a paramedic it’s heartbreaking.

Wishing you lots of luck for the future 🤗
