*deep deep deep siiiiiiigggggggh*

I will try and go though this very very very long story and remove things that could be deemed inapporiate but if i miss anything out as i have no one to proof read my crazy rants admin plz feel free to edit this post on my behalf

--------------

This took a told of FOUR hours but im glad its done and out the way some sitations you cant been fussy over when they arrive but its stupid how many things you have to do just for the combined beast that is universal credit so here goes:

I am now trying to recover from a stressed out afternoon bc dwp decided on mon at the start of my hoilday to inform me via email that they have created my universal credit account (yaaaay what did i set my details to ... password reset please thanks) and could i please fill out a ton of extra information to complete my profile by next monday or it will get deleted (how they worded it in the email caused me a panic attack ), i spent a hour and half filling the b*$€#@ing profile out while gave me relive but then i had a part f@#$ing 2 to do which was create another f@#$ing profile on the gov site to link the b@#$€£ds then it wanted me to download a f@#$ing secure app so they can take a copy of both my drivers liceses and passport so i had to wait for the app to install then create a 3rd f@#$ing account while i havent yet completed as i dont carry my p@#$ing passport around as its at home (because im not aboard and trains dont need passport id like airports jeeez) but it can wait until sunday when im home.

The whole process took me like 4 hours i needed a tea break and bath soak inbetween steps of creating all the different profiles and accounts so i have been stuck in all day (waaaaaaaah) and am about to go out if the rain stops as a reward and make myself feel pretty (yaaaaaaaaay)

Let me sort though the billion of screenshots i took as i did it step by step and i will create collage thingy of the 3/4 blank profiles i had to create

There are over 100 steps to complete which is why it took so long

Hi Bexx,

I’m so sorry you’ve had to ruin a day of your holiday to sort out all this bureaucracy. More time should be given to ppl with brain injury to complete mandatory administrative tasks. My first tax return following my TBI caused terrible additional stress at an already stressful time. All my personal earnings were recorded on spreadsheets which were stored in secure on line location. Not only did my family not know how to access the accounts, they didn’t know anything about spreadsheets and all the calculations and records I’d made including allowable expenses etc. So my sister called HMRC to ask for a bit more time (till I came out of hospital and might be able to remember how to access my accounts/remember passwords and encryption details), and they said no, that I’d be fined if the return wasn’t filed in time. Even when she explained that I had a brain injury and didn’t know what day of the week it was and couldn’t even walk, they were adamant I’d be finded if the tax return wasn’t submitted in time. It seems as though the laws made to protect and help disabled don’t apply to government departments.

I hope you’ve managed to complete making all the profiles now and written down all the passwords. Can you ring them and tell them you’re not at home where your ID is stored to see if they'll give you more time ? I hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday and this doesn’t set you back.

Take care :)

PS. I couldn’t remember how to spell bureaucracy, and the spell checker skep suggesting silly things like ‘rachel briers’ and ‘crew racy’ etc. I can’t stop laughing. I’m going to try and memorise it now. It’s a word I’ve written many times so I don’t known why I had such trouble. I must start reading the dictionary.

I'm struggling with Rachel Briers a lot of late. Thank you for giving a name to the faceless bureaucracy ...(sorry to any *real* Rachel Briers out there). Da*n you Miss Briers and your forms and tick boxes...

I love thiz sentance:

. It seems as though the laws made to protect and help disabled don’t apply to government departments

I can testifty (spell checker .. ??) to that on a proffessional level hehe *groan* i love how miss may publicly sacked and shamed one of her collueages of gdpr breach and appointed a women to take his roll thats how we women need to kick a** in a mans world !!! Amonst other things in the news that i want to talk various about policital achievements that are goverment kicked a** on but i wont because it has nothing to do with brain injury, *sigh*

This sentance is next:

see if they'll give you more time

Ha ha ha ha you really think they will gice me time if i tell them i out of town when your sister stuggled to convice them yoh were generally in hospital i know i have influance to twist ppls arm in work but i cant convice them over the phone to give me more time its not the welfare team in bcc im talking to who do understand how fillling this out and telling me i will be getting rejected before its happens to reassure me that now they are aware of me they can 100% help provided i come in for a assessment (grrrr i dont want to be analysted) but this is the next branch up the goverment chain who dont know md from adam so i will let this department reject me then sent bcc marching in to sort it anyway i am heading back to bristol on saturday and they have without me talking to them after i filled it out and they must have got notified on how i was "stuck" on the last section once they reviiewed all the various profile entries i inputted in (i imaged but i cant be sure) they resent me a email roughly 5 hours after to tell me they had given me a extra day on my deadline and moved it from monday to tuesday so i imagine they know how screwed i am to have to re apply with a 10 year plus time gap beween benifit requests

Thanks my body managed to get a few more hours sleep which gives me a extra day to go exploring before the train home on saturday where my body understands how (ahhhh train horn grrrr) much this place is a haven for me and is trying to fight with getting control back from stress caused by external source and this is the part of my brain that has got me though college and up until this point it is also highly observened and when im out shopping it will go ooo i need that and i need that and then i go but why and the reaponse is your see later and then later comes something happens and the things i brought on auto pilot come in useful and my brain very proudly goes seee why i wanted to buy it and i tell my brain how much i love it because it understands that society isnt helping me so it needs to kick certain protective functions up a few gears to compensate and keep me safe

Thank God I’m retired . So sorry you are going through this , stress isn’t good . My daughter has gone through this ridiculous carry on once too often and she has had enough . Lucky she lives with us or she would be in bother financially . Gets job seekers allowance and that’s it . 😡😡

I hope you put this and them in a mental box and can enjoy your time left there. You said it yourself - it can wait til Sunday. Only if you feel up to it, it may be interesting on your return if there's a way you/we/us can feed back to them/departments about elements of this type of process that work well and others that, um, add confusing stress to people under enough already. I know many who, looking at all the steps you've had to take, just couldn't do this. You're an IT professional for heaven's sake!!

You can do this! :-D

I know and i did but i am now finding it hard to stare at screens for a long amount of time and my brain injury and mental health do not give a flying damn that i have grafted so hard in the IT industry and it annoys me to no end :-( and i wish i could put it behind me but i cant bc i have been up all night still dealing with the aftermath and either this afternoon or tomorrow morning it will catch up with me

All after a brain injury, just same as what I had too do, it's an absolute disgrace, I am trying to get an MP inside as something needs to change. Got my medical for PIP on Sunday.

Benefits agency, I look normal but after brain heamorrage far from ok, they want me to work. They give u not enough to live on, I'll fight them all the way for what I've paid into system for 36 years never claimed a bean. Now when I need something they want to send me under. Not acceptable and I'll fight them all the way.

I've gone through the same experience worked for 40 years paid my dues all this time had a grade 5 brain hemorrhage and had to claim pip and they treated me like a nobody caused me so much stress I was suicidal made to feel worthless this system needs to change what surprised me is if your an alcoholic or a drug taker you don't after go through these procedures you automatically qualify but if you've worked all your life paid into a system you are treated second class things need to change now !!!

So your saying i need to call their bluff and say im a acholic to make it easier as i can do that ive watched my mum swan though it and i always have a bottle of wine and a 4 pack of cider in the fridge so i got no problems with that and i will neck them after they leave as i can apply for pip but i dont want to follow my mothers lead and turn into a acholic i just want to give the false impression that i am

in reply to Gym1bunny

Extra money paid if alcoholic also if a family member in prison but if you've worked 35yrs + nothing.

I did screen shot the process to gey a complete picture of why it took me 5 hours to complete and them 6 hours to review and check it but i cba to waste 100 pages of paper to print them all out and dump it on their desk and so riiiight like me give you my it professional review style report on the crap you can cut out and/or merge but like i have the energy anymore :-( so it will forever be a fanatasy
